We running round playing fball u seen 2/3yrs bck. It was awful stuff, scoring 12pts under the existing scoring system.

I'm also questioning the way we are trying to bring players through to senior football. Some of these lads looked top class players at minor and watching the games this year they don't stand out at all. I agree that when you play better teams with good structure you need proper attacking plans but still the lack of ambition, pace, basic skills was very poor I thought.

Gallagher telling a few home truths. Can't say I disagree with anything he said.

I would like to hear Mal call it out on this Derry Gaels podcast because that performance was shocking.

What are you talking about. Next years u20's were 2024 All Ireland minor champions?

Rogers, McEldowney, McGuckian, Small, Higgins all starters tonight who i believe are over the bar next year

Fed up talking about good teams next year. Same story every year.

Final point about the management team. I didn't like the fact he went pretty much full strength against Fermanagh and especially last week against Antrim in a dead rubber. We should have a strong panel and be in a position to properly rotate players when playing week to week leading to the knock out stages, and by chance Eamon Young got injured and the same happened Sargent in a similar game last year. Hammering lower ranked teams is meaningless and he didn't learn from last year.

Injuries can happen but the chances increase when you keep sending pretty much the same players out every week and making next to no subs doesn't help either.

This yr was the stronger age group at minors. Derry won once at U20/21 since 1997. That a awful record for a county whis fairly strong with good underage players, hell Cavan won 3/4 in a 5yr period!

Not one of them names mentioned anywhere near the standard of getting a county senior call up. That being said they probably will and won't be near their clubs for another 2 months!

McDaid also still underage. They'll still have a fairly strong team next year but that doesn't hide the disappointment in approach. The way we play doesn't encourage forwards who can win their own ball and take a man on.

Rogers has great potential but these players almost always take time.

Eoin McElholm was one of the stand out players at U20 in the past decade and he's taken time to come along. Tyrones previous 2024 U20 POTY, was dropped from the panel.

The team has good players but lacks somebody who can do something a bit different in the forward line. McGuckian played one really good pass for Dillon to get a score but other than that it was all handpass in and pop it out again. It did seem to be a team which hasn't adapted to the change in rules.
I rewatched the Tyrone goal, and I am bias but counted three instances of overcarrying in the build-up. The referee had been pretty strict on fouling until it got close, then seemed to let everything go. The same could be argued for the build up to the last Derry point.

His comments weren't controversial and hard to disagree with. Also, he's well enough qualified to comment on such matters given his managerial credentials.
