Was driving around the South West all last week and you wouldn't have a clue Cork were in an AI final in two weeks such was the lack of colour around the place. There were more Cork flags displayed in the Kingdom than there was in Cork ffs, so may I be the first to say Up Down.

They are pretty apathetic to football in most of Cork bar out west. Hurling is very much number one.

That's where I was, wasn't expecting to see too much out the east around Youghal, Cloyne, etc. but there was nothing around Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bantry, etc. A few flags outside houses on the Beara Peninsula but that was it, remarkable really, any other county in the land and the place would be going nuts.

Wouldnt be surprised to see A Lynch and C O Neill  in Cork side with Down unchanged  ....so as a first draft  matched up like this .

Not sure about Dan on Donnacha or who should mark Pearse O'Neill ( maybe Rooney ?  )  and as I have said earlier I imagine Cork will try to get McKernan playing deep in his own half and probably would like to get Gordon way from the square.

1890, 1911, 1945, 1973, 1989 & 1990, this is the total haul of Munster's second placed county in All Ireland wins, (stop laughing I know its all true if somewhat sad), They are under huge pressure to add a 7th Title.

You should have put asterisks after both 1989 and 1990.  We all know about the Kildare connection in those 2 wins.  They even had a Kildare captain for one of those years.   The last football All Ireland Cork won on their own was in 1973.

Less fans means less pages i guess? Imagine if the final was Tyrone vs Mayo the gaaboard would probably crash

Though not necessarily a disadavantage, the difference in size between the Down HF line and the Cork HB line is quite significant

Downs performance against Kildare will not be good enough to win this final. We need to start like we did against Kerry.

Down 15-8 to win this match with some bookmakers does anyone else think these odds are generous or am I missing something?

The Down footballers will sleep in their own beds the night before Sunday week's All-Ireland final against Cork.

Down chairman Seamus Walsh told The Irish News that James McCartan's squad will not be booking into a hotel close to Croke Park before the big game. It means that Down will be continuing their tradition, which dates back to 1959, of travelling to Dublin on the day of the game.

"James always wants to keep the same pattern. He prefers the boys to stay in their own beds the night before the game, so we will be travelling down on the morning of the game," Walsh said.

"There will be a Gardai escort from the border right down to Dublin. We haven't had an escort the whole way previously, but because there will be a big contingent of supporters, we want to make sure that we get a run straight through."

Other Ulster counties, such as Armagh and Tyrone, have opted to stay in Dublin on the eve of recent All-Ireland final appearances.
