certs...

Last time they were in the qualifiers they got London, letrim, longford and Roscommon maybe... basically it was the easiest team remaining in each of the rounds

Very mature point to make - excellent rebuttal!

and yes before you say it, you can't get Cavan either!

Not sure what to make of the Dubs performance today. I didn't think they'd beat Tipp by 6 or 7 points so it could be argued that it was a good performance but Tipp were poorer than I thought they would be and there wasn't much in the Dublin performance that would give their fans hope. They can score and have some very good players but you couldn't see them beat a top team, however if they avoid Cork I think they could go on for another while yet.

Thought it was an exceptional point to make. That Laois couldn't beat one of the worst teams I have ever seen in my life last week. Says a lot about Laois football. I know we're crap- but Christ Laois must be diabolical if they couldn't beat Tipp.

Dublin scratched past an atrocious outfit. First decent outfit we get we're out. Its a simple as that. You don't need a blow by blow analysis on this one. You sit down and watch the hurlers hurl the shite out of a team everyone said they'd lose too and then watch a really boring football match. Dublin should be hammering teams like Tipp to have any ambitions down the line. I'm starting to question are Dublin even 2nd tier anymore. if we are its in the lowert half of 2nd tier.

I dunno about that O'Gara chap.
He just seems to trot around the place.
Very rigid as well, didn't seem to want to bend his back to pick the ball up.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Dunno about that, Clare are woeful and you only beat a division 2 hurling team (equivalent of a division 3/4 football team) with a large number of U21's. The Dublin footballer's may not be Kerry but the Dublin hurlers are just as far away from Kilkenny and may be for a long time yet.

The kilkenny hurlers Zulu are so far ahead of Kerry its not funny. Beating kilkenny at hurling is the equivalent of the irish rugby team going to Dunedin on a cold winters day and trying to beat the all-blacks.

I'm pretty confident in my dishevelled state of my life that I could still kickpass the ball better with either of my feet better then 90% of the Tipp panel. They wouldn't beat Kilmacud Crokes in a match. They were beyond appalling for this level of football. Have to put into context thats probably the weakest Dublin team in the championship since 1973.

I don't disagree that the footballers were poor but beating that Clare team is no great achievement either, they are as poor a hurling team as Tipp are a football team. In fact I'd say Tipp are a better football team, even if they didn't look it today. Congrates on both wins though, neither team will win an AI in the foreseeable future but I wouldn't mind having two teams that might win something some day to shout for.

You do the Limerick footballers Zulu. they will beat Dublin if they play them.

I've said already that this is the worst Dublin team in my lifetime and today's performance only confirmed that. Irrespective of the conditions some of the basic stuff is just unbelievably poor. The sooner the better we are put out of our misery

Exactly what struck me. Basic techniques and things like lines of running aren't there. The fitter side won

The hurlers were the only high point of a depressing day

Well the conditions were atrocious, players slipping all over the place, ball like a bar of soap, so very hard to judge individual performances. Certainly neither team played the conditions well - should have been instructions not to hop the ball and all passes should have been aimed at the chest.

I was delighted with McAuley's performance. Showed great drive and energy and will hopefully come on for his next championship game.

O'Gara did better than I thought he would (I don't particulalry rate him). Got a point, made a goal. KevMac tried hard but it didnt really come off for him. Nolan and Henry did reasonably well, certainly enough to justify the decision to select them.

I was also happy with the substitutions made and the score of 1-21. Plenty of things to be less happy with, but I'll let others cover that!

And sure, if getting the win is annoying the odd bitter Laois and Cavanman , that has to be good. Hopefully the qualifier draw is more favourable than the last time we were in the qualifiers when we drew a very strong Armagh team.
