Didn't see Van Bommel's challenge til there now, fcuk me he's acting the tr**p in this tournament.

I think Forlan has shown that if you strike the ball well, it will move around in the air and cause problems for keepers.

Van Bommel should have got a red card for his effort in the first half right before the dutch goal. He must have been watching Tomas O se in the Munster final.

This game is going Uruguays way at the moment.

there is another one. Amazingly he hasnt been booked yet, this his 6th game !! and Kaka gets a red for patting a boy on the chest ! Very consistent reffing.

Controversial one there!

I wonder what odds Sneijder was for top scorer, that's his 5th now!

Certain to be an all European final. Am I right in thinking that this will be the first time a European country has won a world cup outside of Europe?

Yes.

why was forlan taken off??  Would you not like him on at this stage?

Schkite

Hard luck Uruguay, battled to the very end and made this tournament very interesting, great effort from such a small country.

Would like to see the Dutch go on and win it now, they've played some fantastic stuff. Should be an intriguing final whoever they play.

Archie Mitchell

Van Bommel eventually booked and is shocked  :D

Forlan must have been injured? anyways great finish in what was a good game! Spain v Germany are likely to give us a boring 0-0 now  ::)

For both Forlan's goals he's hit it and it's swerved one way sending the keeper that way and then the ball has swerved the other way wrong footing the keeper and making it look like a keeper mistake.

I wonder did he do it on purpose...

The dutch are average enough in places but in Robben and Schneider they have two superb players.

Tough on Uruguay, it would have done the final proud to have then there with their full team. This Dutch team don't inspire, not beyond a recognition of their effectiveness.
Times have changed in football, even if it's the Germans who get through, I hope they stuff them.
Forlon was well off his game tonight, uncharacteristically much of his passing was wayward, could well have been carrying an injury.

Dunphy on RTE -  has a never ending supply of self indulgent nonsense.

It was tough on uruguay, but to say that they'd have done the final proud as opposed to the dutch is dunphy like nonsense ;)  The dutch are nowhere near as anti-football as the pundits were making out, can a team with robben and sneidjer in it be that anti football?  Can a team with defenders like Van Bronckhorst and Van Der Viel really be happy to sit back and ride out a game?
The decision to bring on Van der Vaart at half time was hardly negative either.
Uruguay on the other hand, Suarez and Forlan aside could nearly be confused with Paraguay.  Look at their first game with France, hardly inspiring, if they were in the final you could guarantee that they'd sit back and hope to take the game to penalties, at least the dutch will try and win the thing.
