Dis you see the replay there of Van bommel doing a somersault after Alves brushed his foot against his leg, he is some sc**bag.

How did Bastos not get the line? Reminded me of Tom O Sullivan. At least the ref showed Mc aneaney the way with the stamper.

I said they would miss the strength of Ramires and the cool head of Elano, that was before considering the fool Melo would make of himself. An own goal and a sending off is quite a days work. Danny Alvez in midfield is not right either imho, he is a talented player, but wing back is his position. His free kick at the end was a joke. The Brazilians really imploded today for some reason. Their heads went after going behind, it is not all about having the most talent as I think Brazil have the most talented squad. It is about what is going on upstairs, see also England and France.

I am disappointed to see Brazil knocked out, but the Dutch will make the final now, touch wood and are a good footballing side. Argentina v Holland would be a repeat of 1978, Argentina v Germany would be a repeat of 74. I expect the same results.

Big turn up for the books.
Not really imo. Haven't been overly impressive to date. It was always going to be very tight with only a goal in it.

I think Van Bommel got away with his enforcer role today as well. Nobody else has been allowed do it at the world cup.

That 2nd goal was smart and just the perfect time to pull it off, Brazil had nodded off.

I don't know where Liam got it that Robben provoked the Brazilians into doing the stupid things as if he was doing something else other than play football. Brazil looked to be equally aggressive in that game right from the start. They fell for it though, hook line and sinker as if they were the untouchables.
In the game against Chile, before they got the first goal and really played, they were blatantly diving about on 3 occasions and getting hysterical over nothing. Looks like the Dutch manager Bert thought that might be a weakness to exploit.

Robben is awkward and most defenders don't seem to know how to mark him. He was getting kicked but going down easily too. Brazil's fault for reacting... Alves hasn't a leg to stand oon mouthing at him either. Dives all over the place.

VanBommel was booting all round him and getting away with it.

The dutch were out of it till the goalie f**ked up to be honest. Had it not been for a fluky goal it'd have been a drab 1-0. In the end it turned out an interesting game though. Opens the WC up in my view.

I have a sneaky feeling ze germans will beat the argies tomorrow too.

Interesting that Capello is staying with England.

He didn't do his reputation much good during the world cup.  Now to rebuild his reputation.
