Guys I have no major love for any gadget manufacturer.apple folk get very defensive re their ipads and phones.

A couple of questions that I haven't  a notion about.  Why don't apple manufacture their own? And for nifan, why would Samsung steal the design when apple give it to them to make for them?

I've used both the s3 and 5, both great machines but the s3 is streets ahead imo

Neither do I - i dont own any apple products but I just find there is huge misinformation about the products - whether apple fanboys who think that apple is so superior, to claims such as the one that apple chips are 2 years behind.
It may have been some guy you heard, but in your earlier post you stated it as a fact - its patently false. But seemingly it was said and some people will believe it and propagate it.

I dont think samsung would steal the design, but im wondering why you think the fact that samsung manufactures it proves that the samsung chips will necessarily perform better.

On the mini tablets , if anyone is looking one, the blackberry playbook 32.GB is selling for 135 sterling's. Cheap and great for movies and browsing . Square wee gift from Santa

My sister has one of these and its possible to install/sideload android apps which is very straight forward to do so very good alternative

I have one of these and have to say despite all the negative press have found it very useful and handy for browsing etc quite straightforward to use as well.
However have yet to figure out to install movies to it in any sort of handy way, any information you would have on this would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't Apple make there own processors? Do they not have the means, brains to?
Have Samsung historically made their processors or is it a new partnership? If knew, why do they now need Samsung to make their chips?
Is it like Ali G walking into the office in New York with a skateboarding deck and telling the guys its a hover-board....go make as he has the idea but not the means to bring it to fruition?
Why would Samsung enter into an agreement and use their (Samsungs) skills and technology to manufacture a chip for their main rival that is better than their own processor? Thats the bit I dont understand. A tech guy comes on the 'Last Word' (a well respected show)and announces the S3 is 2 years ahead of Apples processors...why was I to think he was telling lies? Ive used both and there ire big performance differences.  Look to be honest, I don't really care. Its no biggy.

for the Playbook sir, the video player wouldnt have all the codec to play many formats. To that end, I convert any movies / tv shows to .mp4. Download Freemake. Its free and can convert any type of file. You can convert multiple files at the one time

attach Playbook to laptop / PC. The Playbook will show with 'Computer', 'My Computer' . Locate the movies folder, copy and paste.. Disconnect the Playbook, scroll to the Movies section on the Playbook menu and you movies should be there

That's right, the A6 is an inhouse Apple design from start to finish.

I remember there were benchmarks where the headline screamed Samsung wipes Apple,  comparing the souped up processor used in Samsung's Chromebook versus the under clocked A6 in iPhone5 and naturally they forgot to mention that 'minor' detail  and also  that Samsung's battery has early exhaustion.
It will be interesting to see how the A6 in iPad 4 performs,

You're suggesting that people care more about the potential performance of a lump of silicon that the actual performance of something they forked out hundreds of dollars for. Ludicrous.

If you don't see the disingenuous nature of a comparison test, where  the performance of an over clocked processor used in a Tablet is compared to an under clocked processor used in a mobile phone, to prove one cpu is better than the other, then that's veering to you applauding bad science.

But when like for like is compared,  the A6 in the iPad 4 v the Chromebook, then I will be interested to see the results.

Apple dont have the fabrication facilities to make the chips themselves (currently)
They pay samsung a huge amount of money to do so.

It is an apple designed chip - samsung dont design anything about it, they just make it.  Instead of the skateboard/hoverboard they take a working design.

Samsung make a fortune from the agreement - someone is going to make the apple chip so they do. They still would prefer to sell  their own products, but why wouldnt they want the money from the millions of apple devices they know are going to be sold. Its not that uncommon - lcd panels are really only made by a small number of companies, these companies sell their own tvs as well, but make panels for rivals under licence.
Samsung also provide the retina screens for apple.

Fair enough you where mislead, but given you are comparing the difference between the s3 and iphone 5, did you honestly believe the apple performs like a 2 year old samsung chip

naw naw, thats definitely the show. the 2 years must be from somewhere else (my bad!!!). will check. But he does say regarding the s3 'its the most advanced technical phone....the most powerful' and 'there are 2 genuine super-phones in the market' referring to the One x and the S3.

yeah he does, though i think hes primarily referring to other features over the iphone (it definately has the lowest specs of the 3, but not by too much) - he mentions 4g which samsung has "had for a while" (in the us - here it has been pointless so there no samsung phone bought here before would have it) - i assume hes perhaps also counting things like nfc.

And i agree that the siii is most advanced, though the processor is hard to define most advanced. The iphones is obviously lower powered (and dual core), but arguably more advanced from a technical perspective.
