QuoteThe sound has been rightly slated but FFS it was Ireland in the 70s.

Was it not recorded using the Rolling Stones mobile unit - am I dreaming now?

QuoteI wasn't on the RTE clip last night (thank God) as I'd be mortified.

Good man SS - Was just about to ask you

Billys Boots

I was looking for him too Declan; sadly he managed to keep a low profile, which is unlike him.  It must have been his round when they were filming.  :P

Nah Billy.

That was the first album in Longfield House in Dundrum, Tipperary, that they took over the Rolling Stones mobile studio, still warm from recording 'Exile on Main Street'. They used bales of straw for sound dampening:

Denn Forever

Have you been playing the Horslips around the house in warm up for the gig and what is the verdict of the youth of today?

I'd say don't get too overexcited but you are all adults now.  You are all adults?

Will we see a birth explosion in 9 months time?  Be careful out there.

Ahem, the 'youth of today' have always liked Horslips (in small doses), especially 'Trouble with a Capital T', but recently have been very impressed with the Dearg Doom-influenced 'Put 'em under Pressure'.  They're a little more impressed by the apparent coolness of their parents going to see The Pixies, followed closely by The Slips.  ;D

My chavvies are too young for an informed opinion.

Sandino

Years of Indoctrination and hard core propaganda have been successful in my house. The kids all love Horslips.

Nah Sandino, not at all. That's education and enlightenment, never indoctrination and propaganda;)

Actually my first reaction when I got into the car with the missus after Friday night's gig was to try for a bit of an oul court. Old habits die hard. I was 19 years old again in the car park of the Nuremore in Carrickmacross.
Careful now

Shamrock Shore

Which occasion were you more successful Dougal?

Dougal Maguire

The Nuremore I'm afraid.  Like yourself not wanting to stand in muck at concerts any more Mrs Maguire is also a lot more fomd of her creature comforts than she was 30 years ago.
Careful now

anglocelt39

the feckin Nueramorel  some spot to get home from if you lived west of Carrick and hadn't a lift. Walked 6 of the 14 miles home one night in the pisses of rain. one of my mates was washing the dye of his Rory Gallagher check denim shirt from his body for a week after. We will return Saturday night older and, perhaps, wiser.

The rolling stones mobile recording unit might have carried a bit of a health warning at the best of times, more so around the Exile on Main Street era.
Undefeated at the Polo Grounds

I never wasted my time courting at a Horslips gig. The music was just to good to miss any of it for any reason!

Nevertheless I might give it a rattle after Thursday night.

Think what it was like for us poor Nordies getting home. Stopped and detained for ages by the brits at the border, hormones sending us mad but at least the music was ringing in our ears for ages. Then we would just check the papers for the next few weeks until the next outing.

Has anyone heard how the ticket sales are going for these two Gigs? I hope they get a cracking crowd!
