Club Rossa

After our row with Omagh in 1988,our seniors were suspended from all football for the rest of the year which resulted in our first and only relegation to intermediate football.Numerous players got banned but it was different from this latest case as the referee was struck that night. Some of our supporters got life bans too.
Omagh went on to win the championship that year so they obvously weren't affected too much by it.

Out of interest rossa are those bans still enforced at your ground?

These life bans intrigue me, a few for rasharkin in antrim, as I don't know how you'd enforce them. Yes you'd be known at homes games but how you going to be known elsewhere?

Club Rossa

No they aren't but i could be wrong in saying that the life ban at that time didn't actually mean life.May have been 2 years.

If there's to be punishment at senior level and to adult supporters then that's to be the case, but the youth teams don't deserve to be included in that list so closing any field would be morally wrong in my opinion.

Totally ridiculous comment, county board need to be consistent. Both grounds should be closed for two years for senior games. Coalisland and greencastle have to play minor games away next year. Its the only fair sanction.

There have been far worse on field fights which haven't warrented any pitch closures and who knows if many fans fighting are even club members. People calling for pitch closures are getting completely carried away.

A "life" ban still is 2 years I believe but what appears to have been issued in the Rasharking situation is expulsion, which presumably would be permanent.

Maybe Ziggy can report

:D

Great day for Greencastle redcard. We didn't think we'd see another All Ireland club title, especially so soon. Fantastic for the players, management and background team, the club and the supporters.

Some celebrations last night and I'm sure they'll be a going some time for some.

do you have players from neighbouring clubs playing for you also?
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either

QUB GAA Research

Hi Everyone,

I am a final year student at QUB, and as part of my course I am required to undertake a group piece of research.
We have chosen to do this on the GAA, and the different reasons on player drop-our rates post age 18 between rural and urban areas.

We would be very greatfull if you could take the time to fill out the survey below (it will literally only take 2 minutes).

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Q8FYCHK

We've got some great feedback so far, and I think the users on this message board can add valuable contributions to the study.
Please feel free to comment/make sussestions on our thread (below) or on the survey about the topic.
