Just read that she expects Congress to pass abortion legislation. Can anyone tell me why there are 4 independent Democrats in the Senate?

Not sure about Sanders.  He's from Vermont and seems to have built up his support from mayorships on.

Sinema and Manchin were Democrats until 2022 and 2024 respectively, when they left the party.  Neither ever faced an election as independent. Both say they are not seeking reelection.

Sanders is in a safe seat and he has a national profile, so he'll get small donations from all 50 states. More than enough to keep him going.

Some people in congress have been good at this. AOC and Alan Grayson* spring to mind.

* Lost his seat, but while he was in office he was able to mop up donations from all over the country because of his high profile antics in congress.

In her defence I looked up the context of the original clip and no she isn't trying to erase Christmas, which is what the advert is no doubt trying to make you think. She is saying we shouldn't be celebrating Christmas whilst migrants wait at the border.
I doubt many people will take the time to look it up though, just watch 30 second clip, be outraged, move on.
Still a dodgy enough quote mind you and won't hurt his chances.
