''Liverpool reject''    :D :D

Well I believe that if LFC and Rafa really wanted the player, he'd be wearing a Liverpool shirt today. No doubt about that. You can call him ex-scouse legend or whatever you want, but he simply wasnt wanted at anfield...

I'm nbot sure if they are genuine or a piss take, either way I find it hard to believe you are "wetting yourself" over them.

That's 100% true, every bit, but at the same time they could do with him. Especially on the type of contract United have reportedly given him. Unless of course you have more faith in Ngog and the likes to come off the bench and clip in that crucial winner at home to Stoke.

Totally agree with that. Personally, I think Rafa should have went for him - ideal as cover for Torres. And while I dont think he'll set the world on fire at OT, it is a risk free signing by united and good business. Rafa has his reasons for not wanting him and I can only assume/hope that he has someone else in mind. Then again, I hear Voronin hasnt given up on his Liverpool career yet so problem solved then.  ::) ::)

I couldn't stomach the soap opera we had last season with Keane.  Imagine the stink if St Michael was kept on the bench in a World Cup year.
it's 'circle the wagons time again' here comes the cavalry!

From the gospel according to the Sun

FABIO AURELIO could miss six months of the season after a freak knee injury picked up on holiday.
The Liverpool left-back, 29, suffered a bad twist playing football with his children and is likely to need surgery.

That has opened the door for Argentine rookie Emiliano Insua, with Andrea Dossena having been told he can leave Anfield.

Brazilian ace Aurelio is about to enter the final year of his contract and has battled various knee problems since arriving from Valencia three years ago.

Boss Rafa Benitez has brought in French rookie Chris Mavinga from PSG as back-up to Insua while Aurelio is on the sidelines.

Yeah heard that a few weeks ago.

A shame, the man has the makings of a superb player, but injuries have ruined him, the fuckin clutz.

Reina reckons he is one of the best payers in the league, an exageration obviously, but he has shown glimpses of brilliance, injuries have not allowed for it to be seen whether he is that good.

JOHNSON: WHY I CHOSE LIVERPOOL

Jimmy Rice 09 July 2009

Glen Johnson today revealed how Liverpool's reputation in world football meant no other club could compete for his signature.
The right-back was the subject of reported interest from other teams - but claims there was no contest once Rafa Benitez offered him the chance to join 'one of the biggest clubs in the world'.

"I had a spell at Chelsea before and there were good and bad times but when a club like Liverpool comes in for you it is not a hard decision," Johnson told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It's a fantastic club - one of the biggest in the world. It's got a great history and I wanted to be a part of that.

"The hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you come to Anfield and hear You'll Never Walk Alone even when you don't play for Liverpool, so I cannot begin to imagine how it is going to feel when I put the kit on for the first time."

Johnson will be unveiled to the world's media on Thursday afternoon where he will reveal how his top priority in a Liverpool shirt will be helping the club win a first league title since 1990.

"We've got some fantastic players and I wanted to come here and help Liverpool win the league," added the 24-year-old.

"The boys did fantastically well last year. Hopefully we can now get a few more points and steal it from Manchester United.

"We want to go as far as we can in every competition but all the lads want to win the Premier League and that would be a great start."

Johnson was voted the Premier League's best right-back by the PFA last term but the England man insists there is even more to come.

"I can definitely improve - every player can. I want to improve every aspect of my game," he said.

"Rafa has told me he wants more of the same form I showed last year, but he also wants me to improve. We will be working hard together to do that.

"I am here to do my best."

Johnson reported to training at Melwood for the first time on Wednesday where he was introduced to his new teammates.

"Yesterday was my first day and all the lads and staff made me feel really welcome, so it's good times," he said.

"I knew Stevie and Carra from before but yesterday I met about 60 players! I was shaking the same hands about four times introducing myself! It's a lot to take in at once, and obviously the lads were messing about and laughing about that. But everyone's made me feel really welcome and it's great to be here."

Johnson also revealed how he spoke with former Reds Peter Crouch and Jermaine Pennant - both of whom he played alongside at Portsmouth last term - before signing at Anfield.

"Peter and Jermaine said it's a fantastic club but they didn't need to say that - I knew. They told me I'd enjoy every minute of it," he said.

Rafa Benitez believes Glen Johnson now has the quality and experience to be a star player at a top four club.

The 24-year-old won a title winner's medal at Chelsea earlier in his career before being sold to Portsmouth.

Johnson's time at Fratton Park saw him become England's first-choice right back - and Benitez believes he is now ready to succeed in a side gunning for major honours.

"We are really pleased because we've signed a really good player, an England international," the boss told reporters at Johnson's unveiling on Thursday.

"It's very positive. He has quality and a very good mentality, and from the first time I spoke with him it was clear he wanted to come here.

"He has quality, that's clear. He's more mature - you can see from the press conference he is good.

"Chelsea were trying to win big trophies at the time he was there and they needed experience in order to win. Now it is a good moment because he is a much better player, he has the experience and the desire."

Meanwhile, Benitez confirmed Fabio Aurelio will be out for a maximum of two months with a knee injury sustained over the summer, though the boss is hopeful of having the left-back available within a month.
