Forlan won the Golden Ball.
Muller got Golden boot and best young player.
worthy winners for both awards, although the golden boot should have been shared.  Dunphy talks more and more shite by the minute.

They showed the best goals of the tournament at the end there, and included Lampard's goal  :D

You know the World Cup final is fecked when a Celtic reserve comes on for one team at LB and the other team don't even test him once.

That game had me numb, never did I get so apathetic about a game so soon.

You have seen World Cup finals before no doubt?

It is a pity the Gaa didn't copy FIFA and present the officials with medals after the Leinster Final.

I can see Sludden now walking up the steps booking people.

Not a great tournament really. Too many mistakes being the deciding factors in matches. Forlan being best player tells a story of a lo of elite players flopping. I don't agree with it, I thought Suarez was a more influential player for them up to the quarter final. Forlan then gets a goal in the semi in the absence of Suarez and another in the irrelevant 3rd place play off. Suarez looked a better player. The trouble is there is no outstanding individual candidate, Villa,Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Ramos, Casillas for spain Muller, Sweinsteiger, Klose for Germany.Muller could have won it for Germany with Ozil as young player of the tournament.

For me though it has to be a Spaniard and I will go for Villa, he provided, goals, skills and leadership when it counted. It is not all that important as it is a team game.

Howard Webb was rubbish tonight as ref. He allowed the Dutch to try and kick the Spanish out of the game. It was like Norman break your legs hunter in the 70s. He is lucky, he got the right result.

Main Street

Sludden would have sorted out that Dutch team.

Don't know about Webb, he was caught between a rock and a hard place. He dished out the warnings and the yellows early on. Apart from the de Jongs kung fu kick, he got most decisions spot on, he was spot on with dives and even the hard to spot, false penalty claim. At least Webb tried hard to let a competitive game happen. The ones mainly responsible for that ugly spectacle were the Dutch team.

Best team won and they show that a traditional centre forward is becoming more and more redundant, it is all about the midfield.

Ross4life was wrong again before the tournament.

Wrong again? didn't i get Chelsea for league & Inter for European cup right (two out of three not bad)

here's what i said before tournament...4th in the 1950 World Cup is the best Spain have done so far... i'm sure they can improve on that stat? & i did fancy Brazil to beat Spain if they played them.. of course that never happened & If the African teams gets out of there groups they will be doing well, Hard to see past Spain/Brazil! good EW bet Argentina/Germany

& i might as well add this... Villa is worth a bet for the Golden boot, Spain should have plenty of games & Villa is by far there top goal scorer

Disappointing finale to a disappointing tournament. Especially disappointing after such a terrific tournament two years ago at the Euros. Disappointing.
