That to me is Terry (for once in his life) being honest.  You couldn't diasgree with a word he said.  If anything Daivd James' interview on 5Live was as worse...not a word about it!

While I'm being paranoid, Didier Drogba says "It's a f**king disgrace" to the camera, hounded by the press and UEFA.  Rooney says "It's nice to hear your own (or possibly home) fans booing you.  If that's loyal support for f**k's sake".  That's just his frustration.

I'd disagree with very little of what he actually said but the point is do it behind closed doors and not at an England press conference. Also would the captain not be the man to do this not Terry??

Not sure what you are driving at re Drogba/Rooney??

Terry was scheduled for the press conference.  Gerrard is a wuss.  Straight on the phone to a journo (at the behest of his agent) to distance himself from Terry once he realised it was going tits up (according to the Guardian).  There's no doubt Terry thought he had the backing of the "Nine Pinters".

Re Rooney...I'm being paranoid.  Had Terry said what Rooney said he'd probably be on his way home...

Your definitely paranoid mate, Rooneys was an ill-advised comment said in the heat of the moment after a disappointing result but Terrys was a cold calculated attempt at mutiny and showing I'm the real f**king boss here. The press conference was scheduled for Sunday alright but Terry was only asked on Saturday would he do it, if these "Nine Pinters" had agreed on this course of action surely Gerrard would have volunteered to take the conference.

By the way, if the nine of them did all agree to let Terry go forward and say what he did they are all arseholes but I ain't seen any evidence that they did

And Drogba v Barcelona was...oh yes I remember a crass act from someone with no class??  Gerrard is a wimp who shouldn't be captain of a netball team.  What Terry said was by no means outrageous (compared to Anelka)

At least John Terry is showing a bit of fight for the cause lads. This could be his last world cup game tomorrow, and you cannot blame the man for wanting to make sure England put their best foot forward. I think he meant every word he said, and with the exception of openly calling for Joe Cole to play - I dont disagree with any of it.

The FA are the folks who wheeled Terry out for the press conference.

Correct, it was the FA who asked Terry (not Gerrard) to do the conference and according to the BBC he was asked to give a "rallying the troops" call at the conference.  He certainly rallied Joe Cole...not so sure about Lennon or Wright-Phillips.

Jaysus, now that France are out, if Eng go out too, who will we hate??

Fair play to Uruguay they won there group with plenty to spare & now it looks like they will play South Korea in next round Quarter-finals at least is a good bet for them now
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

I'm still not getting what Drogbas got to do with anything?? Unless you think its a whole conspiracy against Chelsea or something.

Anyway we'll agree to disagree, I think JT has let himself down and you don't.

Of course it's an anti Chelsea conspiracy.  We agree on something ;)

Capt Pat

The French squad is possibly the best in the tournament, it is shocking to see how bad they played.

I reckon the Swiss. And after yesterday's carry-on it seems we'll have the (dis)pleasure of looking at Ronaldo a while longer!

What about Spain? Can't really be comparing Jeremy Toulalan (decent player that he is) to Xavi. Looking forward to watching Argentina tonight, hopefully they don't rest Higuain as his goals could end up being very profitable for me.

Appropriate that France met their Waterloo at the FreeState stadium.

Why would Domenech not shake hands with the South african manager after the game?

Main Street

The Mexico Uruguay game was hard core. Great for the tournament that they went through.
SA would have been walloped by Argentina.
The way Uruguay and Paraguay play the game is a template for what we could and should be doing.
