By my reckoning, if SA hold on for 2-0, but Uruguay get two more to win 3-0, then SA and Mexico will have exactly the same standing, and their head-to-head match was a Draw.

So ........ there would be the dreaded "drawing of lots".

Now for the Conspiracy Theorists, you have the Host Nation and someone else involved, two supposedly identical balls in a glass bowl, swirled around by Sepp Blatter or some other mogul, all looks very cosure, one ball drawn out, opened carefully to reveal ........ South Africa of course.

Sorry any Mexicans out there but there is no way that you will possibly be the drawn name in such a situation.  Sepp probably wont even have to give Croke Park a call to learn the best ways to rig the draw.  There may even be a secret plan for such an eventuality already.  One ball kept in a fridge/heater for a little while ...... perish the thought

That to me is Terry (for once in his life) being honest.  You couldn't diasgree with a word he said.  If anything Daivd James' interview on 5Live was as worse...not a word about it!

While I'm being paranoid, Didier Drogba says "It's a f**king disgrace" to the camera, hounded by the press and UEFA.  Rooney says "It's nice to hear your own (or possibly home) fans booing you.  If that's loyal support for f**k's sake".  That's just his frustration.

I'd disagree with very little of what he actually said but the point is do it behind closed doors and not at an England press conference. Also would the captain not be the man to do this not Terry??

Terry was scheduled for the press conference.  Gerrard is a wuss.  Straight on the phone to a journo (at the behest of his agent) to distance himself from Terry once he realised it was going tits up (according to the Guardian).  There's no doubt Terry thought he had the backing of the "Nine Pinters".

Re Rooney...I'm being paranoid.  Had Terry said what Rooney said he'd probably be on his way home...
