Quote from: nrico2006 on September 29, 2026, 01:24:24 PMNever realised there was such an issue with saying Northern Ireland - out of curiosity, what do you rebels put down as your address when filling in forms or what country do you stick on the address when sending a letter to someone in NI?

Are you Bryson in disguise?

I put Ireland on it. What do you think I put on it?

Do you think I put 'londonderry' on a letter to someone in Derry? 'londonderry' is official title but doesn't mean you have to use it.

On holiday if people ask, I'd say we're from Ireland. Imagine, as a nationalist, saying you're from 'northern ireland'. What an embarrassment that would be.

Alison Morris , Irish News, said that the original application was approved on the  PSNI advice  that there was no evidence for trouble/protest/unrest (or whatever the term). Now that  there clearly is evidence of protest/potential unrest etc , then a new application is needed.

The PSNI had a major  part in this. Saying there was no evidence of potential opposition to the march (did they consult the  Garvaghy Road residents about their opinion?) , then  bring in 200  police  officers from Scotland.

Is she Irish News or Bel-tel?

She's been with the Bel Tel for 3 or 4 years now.

Meanwhile SF supporter wants to deflect from facts -
Michelle is "First Minister of Northern Ireland"
Nearly 30 SF people are members of the "Northern Ireland Assembly"
Some are Ministers if the "Northern Ireland Exectlutive"
SF negotiated and supports the GFA which says "Northern Ireland" 108 times.
What has any of that got to do with anything? So it's the legal name. Does that mean nationalists should be comfortable with it? Do you insist on calling Derry by it's legal name 'Londonderry', since you're a stickler for that sort of thing?

Quote from: Rossfan on September 29, 2026, 01:12:27 PMBut An Taoiseach can't use the term🙄

I don't see any posts saying he "can't use the term" (back to the straw men again? You really can't help yourself, can you!!) It's clearly more a case that to some, his insistence on using a term that nationalists generally avoid using, is just typically disappointing choice from Micheal Martin. He's quite clearly free to call it whatever he wants, but nationalists from the six counties are also quite free to see that as him 'othering' them as usual. From my point of view, when I heard him say it, my reaction was nothing more than an fleeting eye roll. On the scale of things Micheal Martin has said to alienate northern nationalists, it's far from the worst.

Good point Snapchat. Good comparsion. I just used that example in a post a few minutes ago.

MM - totally useless in terms of the north. I wonder has he visted the Garvaghy Road since the week-end? Or has anybody from FG?

He's be quicker heading halfway across the world wearing a flack jacket and helment and pointing to a hole in a roof.  ::)

Hereiam

With the looming energy crisis and the south getting a large percentage of its diesel from the brits, MM has to toe the line so to speak.

Still don't make it right.

MM would be chased  if he landed  on the Garvaghy Road. And rightly so. The p***k.

Drumcree stalemate continues as Orange Order and protesters meet NI secretary

Is it just me or does this  BBC headline not sit right?

Why not residents/Garvaghy residents instead of  protesters?

BBC bias trying to portray the Garvaghy residents as  the problem and the OO as the good guys?

It's subtle but intentional.

I'm surprised they didn't squeeze in somewhere about the OO being a christian, religious organisation.

Dougal Maguire

I think this is backfiring on the DUP as it appears they have by and large handed over control of unionism to Jamie Bryson
Careful now

Milltown Row2

The Unionist are getting poor media also they say, So I'd say the media are spot on if both are complaining

Things like this are watched through the eyes of a clubman watching his team rather than a lad watching his mates team, They see the game totally different

No way and if they were then it would be like a badge of honour. Didn't Eastwood have a similar
charge recently and essentially got a slap on the wrist

Good timing!

EDIT : He also is a QUARE!

That might be useful for DUP
