Is there any chance this is all scripted and it'll be stopped by the legal challenge? Would take the immediate pressure away from the Parades commission in that they allowed it? I assume I'm grasping at straws.

No scripting, although it could still be successfully challenged.

They have to walk in silence between 8am and 9:30am on a Sunday morning.
Will it really be disruptive?
Have a bit of a lie in, and it will all be over when you get up?

If orange culture is to be respected, respectful and minimally disruptive, then why not have the service in their place of worship and disperse quietly.

No. Because that wouldn't uphold their 300 plus year right to dominate the agenda, the community, the law and the government.

Time to let Stormont go.

Quote from: trueblue1234 on September 25, 2026, 02:44:44 PMWhere do we go from here? What are the options? Is all of this genuinely happening because someone forgot to sign a document?

If it's going to become a case of "the squeaky wheel gets the oil", does that mean there needs to be more protesting from the nationalist side? I genuinely think this could all kick off, and that would only play into their hands.

The nationalist side have never seemed as argumentative when it comes to holding up funding for loyalist/unionist policies or projects. You don't see the same level of opposition that we're seeing now with things like the Irish Language Act, street signs, etc.

Is now the time to just stall this place completely and bring everything to a head? Contest everything in the same way? I know that's not the right thing to do and would ultimately just harm everyone, but you can understand how angry and frustrated this makes you feel.
Pull it down. This place doesn't work. Border poll or nothing

Splinter arse Long and the Alliance Party would need to make some form of statement here too

I hear extra police  coming in from Britain for this

Send the policing bill to the Portadown lodge and  this March will never happen again

It's all to be expected. The last sting of a dying wasp.

Triumphalism is the phrase that comes to mind with this.  The divine right to do what they want, regardless of who it offends (and as has been mentioned, there is history here, this does offend).

The thing with this is, the ones who want it, will not be content to march, but gloat on Facebook/Twitter about the victory they have gotten here.

Hopefully there will be no violence over the back of this, but we can all but guarantee it will come to that unfortunately.
I tend to think of myself as a one man wolfpack...

How does that square with the below?

QuoteThe PSNI made it clear that had no information indicating that the parade would result in disorder or violence

Stipulations will no don't be ignored.. the silence will be broken at the end of the road, the triumphalist will be out in force! The taigs will riot and the focus will be on them, not the quiet ones walking peacefully

Shit show, bring the place down, scrap the elections and let the uk gov sort it out, it's their mess, they can deal with it, be a better job than those Cnuts on the hill have tried to do
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

And, to anyone interested in peace etc across Ireland, the wider implication is that it now throws open the old flood gates for positions on many more previously 'settled' but potentially contentious parades / marches / gatherings to be challenged.

I can see the wood for the trees. It's taken me seven years to return to this forum but "plus ça change" when it comes to our loyal orange lodges.
