Missing Lough v omagh. What's the review at HT

Lough just a better team and well drilled. Think they are hard looked past right now.

Omagh put a bit of challenge in 1st half and maybe unlucky not to be closer at HT.

Lough turned screw big time and hit at least 4 two pointers in 2nd half, poor finishing on goals.

They seem to have developed from last year.

Highlight of the match was Omagh bench giving the Conroy a load of abuse led by Ciaran McDaid...Conroy roared over to Daidso saying sit down McDaid,you're just the secretary 🤣🤣 then booked Justy McMahon when he hardly said a word

Im not one to hammer the refs as its a thankless job and i myself wouldnt throw my hat in the ring.
That said I thought that was a poor performance by sparky, when it reached the boiling point of the game it just felt like alot of soft calls were going Edendorks way and the momentum completely swung for them.

There is a difference between knowing the rules of Gaelic football and actually understanding the game. Without experience of a high-level team environment, it can be difficult to fully appreciate the speed, physicality and small nuances that influence what is actually happening. This can affect a referee mainly in how they interpret situations, rather than in their knowledge of the rules. Therein lies the issue we face with refereeing: too often, there isn't enough understanding of the ebb and flow of the game to make sensible decisions in the moment.

I was at the clonoe vs edendork game and as a complete neutral, I didn't see much bias from the ref. If anything, I thought he let too much go in the first 3 quarters, but then made some inconsistent calls in the final quarter. Clonoe certainly got a goal in the first from an incorrect line ball decision. Morgan got a free that resulted in a booking in the 2nd half that wasn't even a foul imo. But in general, I didn't think the referee was that bad.

Entertaining game, both teams attack with pace. But both teams are weak defensively. Hardly a hand on or tackle the entire game. The Clonoe supporters near me were very unhappy with their own keeper on kicks, and they did concede some scores from kickouts, but I think that was more to do with Edendork really pressing their kicks and having success there.  Kilpatrick had a very strong 2nd half.
Clonoe were 5/6 up with about 15 to go but still managed to lose by a decent margin.

I don't think Edendork have a championship in them with that defence, but they'll bother plenty with their attacking play so who knows.
From what I've seen so far, Loughmacrory would still be my bet.

scores coming from basically every position on the field
Omagh did a reasonably good Job on Mcelholm & Mccullagh but then there was the 3-4 donaghys, Gallagher, fox etc

My money would still have to be on Errigal, everyone writing them off all year during the league and they look well poised to win the championship

Carrickmore v Donaghmore - think there's more room for improvement for Carmen than donaghmore. Think Carmen win by 4/5 in replay

NE v Rock - again, will be close. I think the size of Healy will suit NE a bit more than Rock. NE by 2

Fintona and Stewertstown to meet in Junior final. Think both semis could be won handy enough

Cookstown v Pomeroy - can the Cookstown youth come of age. Interesting game. Pomeroy by 1

September time, the kids are back to school, fball is in full flow, Phil mitchel is getting mentions on the discussion board, the championship is back.

I have been absent from the board for a spell now just with my occupation taking the driving seat & enjoying some family time with the kids. I watched the edendork game on Friday night, it was a good spectacle but again i would have to agree with previous messages on the board regarding sparkys performance. Once the Pascal McClure goal hit the net all the 50/50 decisions went edendorks way. Kyle coney was a good listen on co com, the jet had mccurry down for 1-12 and skeet for 1-7 I was wondering did we watch the same game, but all scores were well engineered in fairness!

The county board are getting their moneys worth this weekend, 4 semi finals & a replay div1 quarter and all games stand alone. It's just a money racket at this stage.

Is it true that Sean devenny has been suspended from taking charge of any championship matches this season? I heard he was lineo in the clifftonville game at the weekend.

Pomeroy is a phenomal set up in terms of their facility's & pitch maintenance but the breeze in the mountains of pomeroy can really decide a game this time of the year. Carmen clawed a good comeback to bring Donaghmore to a replay Thursday which I'm sure will be a thrilling encounter. Fancy Donaghmore for this one, they just have a lot of fires to put out on the offensive end from a carmen perspective.

Based on div 1,2,3 championship to date is there been any stand outs that would catch the eye of big Mal?

Would John Pat McCullagh be worth bringing on board for a bit of craft and experience to guide the younger players in the squad?
