Was chatting to a few Galbally fellas there today saying that if they get the appeal they will not play the replay to 'send a message' the only message they have sent is that they are a pile of cowards who can't win a game of football when they were 7 up with 10 to go they only have theirselves to blame. Yes the call was iffy enough but theirs been many games changed by 1 decision by ref this year and if it were my club appealing I'd be embarrassed. Win the game on the pitch.

There may be something in this if there was any feed back to Hurson from a previous similar thing. In the Ulster semi final in 2024 I think it was there was an incident where the referee declined to award Down a free near the sideline and then awarded Armagh a late free a few seconds later for a subsequent foul. Sean Hurson was the linesman and then informed the referee that the first incident was also a foul so the referee reversed the decision.

I would suspect if Hurson was correct then Galbally are out of luck.

Similarly the Derry Monaghan game was over this year and restarted because of a mistake.

Ultimately I think it's poor refereeing. The ref saw the incident and made a decision. It's not for someone else to re referee it. If such an approach was taken you could argue so many scores shouldn't count because something happened off the ball 70 yards away.

Cahair O'Kane has posted the clip Galbally have complained about on social media. They have a right to be annoyed by that. Its a shocking bit of refereeing albeit Conroy has likely been let down there by his linesman. Probably be thrown out but good to see a bad call like that get the spotlight shone on it.

Why what's wrong with it?

Because Galbally are claiming he recorded the point before going back to the booking. Therefore the point should have stood as per the rulebook. I'd imagine Galbally have consulted with their club referee and not just pulling this out of their ass.

Nevermind the alleged miscommunication or equipment issue for the linesman getting word to Conroy. It's clear as day in the video Conroy watches the incident with his own beady eyes and allowed play continue before going back reversing score and awarding the free the other way..

what could the linesman possibly have said? "Martin please my ACCA depends on trillick" doesn't make a lot of sense from the outside looking in but presumably it's all in the report so the appeal will be decided on the contents of the report.

Not the first time that ref has gotten big decision wrong and certainly won't be the last. There were a few videos of him doing the rounds in this part of Tyrone back in July where he got 3 vital decision wrong in a league decider between the Tatts and the Derg sir.
Keeper 3 or 4 yards off his line when saving a penalty, then the foot block save on the rebound also missed. And somehow awarded a penalty for a foot trip at the other end when the attacker fell over after getting his shot away (for reference the defender went in with his hands first to put the defender off, feet were no where near him).

Carrickmore have been a coming team since they beat Errigal to the league in 2021 and they followed it up by nearly beating them in the Championship final the following year. We are now 4 years on from that and people are saying they are still years away. It is now at the stage where Carrickmore need to start delivering, in the most open championship in years, this is a prime opportunity for them.

A bit early to tell but I agree with so far majority of the county men have been poor, i think in terms of new faces your still looking at the usual suspects who are always in and around it anyway, like Conroy & Jones for example, aswell as some of the past u20s who are getting their first or second real stab at a senior championship, like Shane Scullion & Padraig Dillon.

In terms of men who would be brand new to the panel, Aidan McSorley?, he seems to have been the difference maker for NE all year, although hes probably too old. I think because of Gortins first round exit that rules out LiamOg Mossey despite what looked a great league campaign for him.

Conroy? he walked about healy park on sunday evening more interested in trying to start fights than play football. Wasn't so brave when big mchugh from aghyaran came over to him for picking on the brother, threw himself to the ground rolling about like a child. Not the only time in the game he done that either
