Who wrote Pengelly's speech at the Fleadh yesterday?

Some say, despite her background, she has a bit of a grá for Irish culture. Eamon Mallie wrote this about her in Irish Times a while back.

He points to a poetry circle that he started during the years of Covid as offering evidence to back up his belief that Little-Pengelly deserves to be given a chance by nationalists and republicans.

He had invited well-known people to read poems online. The DUP's Peter Weir read one, but quite a few others in the party declined.

"I rang [her]. By nine o'clock that night she had sent a video recording of her reading one of Trinity College professor Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin's poems. And she chose it. I would guarantee that there is not another member of the DUP who would know the work of Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin. She's much more cross-culturally aware than any DUP people I know," he says.

Not DUP but that Jon Burrows lad would eat himself if he could.

Nesbitt has just resigned as Health minister after Burrows made a speech in his constituency that he would stop the cancelling of emergency surgery in the Causeway and the merging of it with Antrim Area even if more and more reports on it said that it was unsustainable in its current form.

And people wonder why Bengoa is not being delivered.

Burrows is a dose. Ex-cop, so what would you expect. Loves the word salads.


But key thing here in this case is, for me, politicians won't make big decisions.


Like water rates - no politician will bring them in as, like Coleraine hospital services above, it's career ending.
