The van hit him. From a report I read it seems that a van driver incorrectly thought the peloton had passed so he headed down the road - into oncoming cyclists.

Should the roads not have been shut?

I saw a video on twitter of dead celebrities and many die young either from accidents,eg Whitney Houston, or  Suicide ( Kurt Cobain). I remember talking to an underwriter who said they don't insure celebrities because of this.

Frank Beard

The ZZ Top drummer, the one without the beard.

J70

Brilliant drummer.

I believe he'd been back playing a few gigs, before having to cancel last week.

Only Billy Gibbons left of their long time line up.

I am a massive fan of ZZ Top. Frank Beard was a competent drummer and Dusty Hill was a competent bass player. But their success was all down to Billy Gibbons, one of the best blues rock guitarists ever.

While in no way wanting to lower the decorum of an RIP thread, I'd say the girls in the videos played a part too. RIP to Frank Beard, as Dec noted the only one in the band who didn't have a beard.
