I seen that all the games were fixed for Owenbeg and thought it was bizarre. Surely a few double headers at different club grounds adds to the atmosphere rather than it all being at one venue?

Always thought the fixing every game in Owenbeg was bizzare from Derry county board as an outsider. There's a rake of games I would've went to in south Derry over the years but wasn't for making the spin up there. What's the logic?

Theyve their own restaurant/cafe there now, a shop and coffee trailers who will be paying them rent and of course get 100% of the gate receipts

I'd say every championship game needs to be videoed. Easier done at Owenbeg than any other venue I think. That may have something to do with it.


Pitch does nothing during the summer so should be in good condition to take the games unless there's a bad downpour for a few days.

It's good oul craic a day that starts in Carrickmore with a spin to Pomeroy and finishing in Dungannon. Great days out. If Derry were to go back to it the likes of myself would definitely make the journey to some of the south Derry clubs - I have friends from Loup, Swatragh, Magherafelt, Slaughtneil, Lavey but Owenbeg always a big ask kills the day altogether

Kilrea vs Newbridge as stand alone fixture on Friday is a fair strange one. It'll hardly inspire the neutral I would think. Surely Bellaghy, Slaughtneil, Glen, Swatragh, Lavey could have hosted that.

Bellaghy vs Dungiven 12 on Sunday, sure it has the potential to be a good game. Two teams not too far apart quality wise, neutral crowd will be small now that Slaughtneil and Magherafelt are last fixture the same day.
