Quote from: Armagh18 on June 30, 2026, 12:05:10 PMEvans the better block in terms of how difficult it was and the aesthetics of it in slow motion, Gormleys obviously the bigger moment and more important.

Evans blocked the ball. Gormley hit the players leg as he was kicking it, so it should have been a 14m free, although this would not have affected the outcome as that passage of play led to a free anyhow.
Did Gormley even get the monument in Tyrone as Martin Carney proposed?

Surely by that logic it's a penalty? Was inside the square? No foul for me!

Quote from: DaleCooper on June 30, 2026, 05:06:51 PMThat was the clear implication. Tyrone did not go down to take part and he based it on a reaction Mattie gave to Mugsy.

"Tyrone wur gallantly lewzers. Chuckie ar la mindset"

Tried to get the accent right. McCurry and Mattie were having a laugh with their kids ffs and no guarantee they will ever play in CP again.

Lets be serious though,  its Philly Mc!

Did he mention KPIs?
That's just, like your opinion man.

Ger Brennan was in The (Cuala) Hyde tonight, likely getting advice from Mick Fitz on how to mark D.Clifford, it'd be interesting to find out who kept Clifford to his lowest score.

MF probably heads the table.
They get momentum, they go mad, here they go

If David Clifford gets 9 shots off next week like he did in the all ireland final in 2023 he'll get at least 10 points. Fitzsimmons didn't do as well as people make out in that final.

Barry McCambridge kept him to a point from play in 2024 and got a goal himself, not sure many have done much better. Unfortunately Clifford tore him a new arse in 2025.

Seán Meehan kept him scoreless when Kerry beat Cork by 22 points in 2021.

Clifford had a couple of bad days with him and Chrissy McKeague in 24 under the old rules. I actually though Armagh did well on him last year in the 1st half but it was Seanie O'Se and others that stepped up and that gave him a bit more space in the 2nd half.

Mental! And people trying to claim it wasn't a red card as well. Wooly has a video on twitter saying "he's not off his feet" then it cuts to a video of the Louth man off his feet with his shoulder on the jaw!

Red all day long!

McKaigue was tight on him but he still did him quite a few times. It's really damage limitation there.

Quote from: Maroon Manc on June 30, 2026, 08:16:31 AMSo the free count from Sunday was 21-6 in Dublins favour, Galway every right to feel cheated. Countless frees for a Dublin player grabbing a Galways players arm and holding it in, thought refs were wise to this especially when it happened in full view of Gough. He was right in front of Conroy in the build up to the penalty when he went to grab a bouncing ball when the boot of a Dublin player came in, a free obvious free which he would given in the other direction.

Bad enough trying to win a game when the kickout out strategy stinks but you've got no chance with a ref like that.

I've been looking for the free count since Sunday and found it very difficult to find for such a basic statistic.

Gough getting off very lightly in the media, Galway don't really have any cheerleaders in the media/podcasts to go after him.

If Kerry/Dublin we're on the receiving of that you'd never hear the end of it.

We can safely say the ref got that call right then!

Was a poster on here a few weeks ago saying McCambridge exposed by the new rules - would be curious to know what people think of that. It's strange how little football he got this year, I know someone who played Sigerson with him at UUJ and couldn't believe how good a year he had in 2024, didn't rate him that highly at all. Has to be said though, he did have some season can't really be argued against. Be interesting to see how he goes the next few years if there might be something in the new rules not suiting him

Don't remember him being especially poor in 2025 bar struggling with Clifford which I'll not hold against him. Always rated him highly and was puzzled why he wasn't getting more game time pre that Derry game in 2024. Has struggled with injury since the club championship in 2025 and apparently was poor enough for the club at the weekend which probably explains why he didn't get any game time for Armagh this year- not fit.

As they tweak the rules to try to bring them back to the way football was, I would say a lot of county players will be "exposed", especially defenders.
For the last few years swarming the back line was the thing to do, man marking defenders had a reasonably easier job, now it is slightly harder and they are being caught out.  It is a forwards game now.

For a while, average footballers with a good engines would appear to be better than they were.  Seeing a lot of the ball, getting on the end of scores etc.  Their skills masked by their ability to stand in space around the D and counter at pace (all essential in the current game of course).

I tend to think of myself as a one man wolfpack...

exposed would be harsh Id say. He played a brilliant role for us in a system that was designed round the old rules. I dont think Amragh, as a team, have got to grips with the new rules yet
