Quote from: mrdeeds on June 27, 2026, 08:26:19 PMThe moving up a mark free 50 metres is actually scandalous. A referee unaware of basic rules at this level.

Oh dear  🫣

What?

Calling out a ref who called it right

Foul = 50m

No the 50 metre advancement on foul at mark was rescinded earlier this year.

Oh, well there you go. Duly noted, as you were deeds 👏

Rumors of their demise are premature, Horse.

True, Horse. Logan and Dooher win that game.

Quote from: Stickittotheman on June 27, 2026, 08:40:26 PMHard luck to Tyrone but Kerry had them at arms length I felt. Few more gears in them. Tyrone kept plugging away but never got in front and never looked like getting in front either.

The lead 7 to 4 at one stage, might have been 10-5 had morgan nailed the frees rather than let jordan hit them.

Cahair mentions an incident where Kilpatrick fielded the ball and landed infield. I thought he landed with one foot either side of the line. Is there any formal language around the requirement of the player to land in the field of play in order to be awarded a mark?

There have been loads of incidents the last few years where a lad catches it but gets bundled over the line before getting his feet down and the ref has seemed to automatically give them the mark.

Ok, but I never felt confident at any stage that Tyrone had it in them to win that.

Poor enough return for yourselves.

Quote from: Aaron Boone on June 27, 2026, 08:27:14 PMDavid Clifford was quiet enough in the final third of the game. Banning the fisted points would knock a few points off his total.

You would think some of the Kerry players were feeling it, with no week off

Definitely looked like Kerry were feeling it with their 3rd game in 3 weeks compared to Tyrone who were playing their 4th game in 11 weeks. Paul Geaney I thought in the first half didn't look anywhere as sharp as he did against Armagh. There was a least 3 different incidents in the first half were he seemed off the pace of the game. I was very surprised he wasn't hooked at half-time.

Dylan Geaney hasn't kicked a wide all championship apparently.

I dont think there's anything specific in the official rules but I've heard that the interpretation is that a players feet must be infield when he lands, to claim the mark. I don't know why that would be the case though. You'd think that as long as the ball is in play when the players feet touch the ground, that should be all that matters.

Could get all NFL into the details of "what is a catch?"! To me it's not as simple as it might seem. Probably need to define at what point a player has possession of the ball. Only at that point can they be awarded a mark.

Thats not technically correct but sure you know that

What's not correct? Calls the mark, is fouled and the ball is moved up, don't call the mark is fouled it's free from that position?

The ref can award the mark wether its claimed or not

The ref will blow the whistle for every mark, it's down to the player to make that signal
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

True. Being a modern day referee is not easy. As long as we don't introduce VAR!! 😀

Getting back to the original point. It can't be moved up wether claimed or not.
