Jeffrey Donaldson listened to the stories of victims of historical abuse and then prayed over them, the Belfast Telegraph can reveal.

Prominent victims' campaigner Marty Adams branded the former DUP leader's show of fake concern for survivors "disgusting and depraved".

He said he was deeply disturbed that trusting victims shared their experiences of abuse with Donaldson at a meeting in his Lagan Valley constituency office in 2019.

"We sat with this man, whom we didn't know was a child abuser, and some of us disclosed what had personally happened to us.  I told him things that I haven't even told my partner and family," Mr Adams said.

"Victims of historical abuse don't trust people easily, but we trusted him. He kept shaking his head in apparent dismay at what he heard. He told us to put our faith in God, and he pledged to do everything to help us get justice.

"He knew some of us were Christians. He used that soft voice of his, and we found solace in the words he spoke. He is a dirty, rotten b*****d. He is the lowest of the low. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing."

Mr Adams explained how, at the end of the meeting, Donaldson asked if he could pray with the group of victims.

He said: "I will never forget the Bible verse Jeffrey recited: 'But who shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged round his neck and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.'

"We found great comfort in that moment of prayer. For survivors, those words carry enormous weight.

"They speak of the innocence of children and the seriousness of abuse, yet that child-raping monster used them."

It was good to see the Lord Maurice Morrow standing right beside Gavin Robinson, as he gave his wee anti Jeffrey speech the other day.

I was just wondering if that's the same guy as the one who pushed this legislation through:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Trafficking_and_Exploitation_(Criminal_Justice_and_Support_for_Victims)_Act_(Northern_Ireland)_2015

The double standards & the sheer hypocrisy of the DUP are legendary. Unless, of course, they are now planning on asking the authorities to use their own legislation against Jeffrey & put him up on another charge.

Scripture is very strange indeed.

Two sides to each story.

Turn the other cheek or get drowned.

Jesus did advise us to sell our cloak and buy a sword!

(And of course whip the money lenders and drive them from the Temple. Timely advice)

Story in the Belfast telegraph about Ian paisley knowing about a Donaldson victim in 2021 and using it for political gain. You'd have to imagine they would have to have some proof before publishing that :(

Sam McBride has stated that it was referred to the police and they have text messages. Also confirmed that the alleged victim was another one,  not the 2 involved in the court case

Jesus. You hope it's not true but it does sound likely

I'd say Ian would need to keep his head a bit low considering his alleged dalliances  over the years, never mind his holidays
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Just when you think Paisley couldn't get any lower in people's estimation.

Sam mcbride on nolan the other morning alluded to there possibly being more to come, but he wouldn't say so because there is no evidence. Just said something along the lines of "in cases like these, it is very common for more victims to come forward after."

More stuff will probably come out.

There should really be an enquiry into this now - especially from the DUP and who knew what and when about Donaldson.

Paisley - another God fearing Christian.  ::)
