Shocking that was not a penalty for Ghana. Game is so corrupt in favour of certain nations.

Semenyo hoofed James in the shin.

Whatever about whether it was a penalty or not, the fact VAR didn't think it was worth a look from the ref is mad.

It was Konsa making the tackle and dont think it was on Semenya either.  Going to hear about it on rte now

Lol if they were corrupt in favour of England theyd have gave them hosting duties in 2018 you absolute weapon.

I do think the smaller teams have to work harder to get a free.  Always the way

Looking at it again (the incident) it was a shocking decision not to ask the ref to review it.  It was as stonewall as stonewall can be.

Now no need for insults. The hosting is voted by member associations. England in case you don't know does not enjoy universal popularity when there's a democratic vote. That's very different to how Ronaldo can get his red card ban overturned or how an African nation gets no no fair play from Var, or how Iran gets treated like shit. There's a clear bias in a lot of this stuff.

Harold Disgracey

Even the BBC admitted that it should have been a penalty.

Konsa made the tackle that should have been a penalty, following which Semenyo and James contested the ball and Semenyo booted him across the shin. That's what the free was for, which was your question.

Was it not an offside in the end? Semenyo was offside. And the ref had his arm raised to indicate  an offside call.

Ghana player was  clearly onside

Unbelievable how  that wasn't a penalty.

No he wasn't, James was on the line.

James is only one player, there needs to be two players in line  with or between the attacker and the goal line.

Just watched it again and you're right. Semenyo had gone past an outrushing Pickford so James was the last man.

Main Street

Fair play to you to check it out, I thought it a bit of an embarrassment for the GAABoard´s credibility to have to explain the basic tenet of the  offside rule in 2026 to members on a football thread  :)  but it is a thing that can be easily missed because people generally don't count the goalie in the offside equation.

Saw that incident live and not a peep out of Shearer and the other commentator about it even possibly being a foul.
