If you agree to meet at some religious retreat outside Armoy and apologise to one of the girls for something other than abusing her as a child then you'd suspect something was amiss.

Your wife also walks in on you with a child, and walks back out of the room and questions you about it later and you refuse to discuss it, doesn't feel great either.

The biggest shock to me was that he was playing away from home, with a woman no less.
And the wife bugging his car because of his infidelity. Evidently he was untrustworthy, whether that goes as far as pedophilia is another dabate.

No mention of his video fetishes over in London or his one time mentor, Enoch Powell...

Do the jury consider the complainants relationship to this man and their motives towards bringing this to trial? I don't believe they have any ulterior motives other than seeing him face justice? Does that factor into their decision making?

He has 18 separate charges and I'd imagine one of them will stick and he'll get off with the most serious one. If convicted of even one he will have to have  his titles taken away as Stuart Hogg had his MBE removed for harassing the ex-wife.

An Ex teacher was found guilty recently of  sexual  offences against women when they were at school , maybe 30/40 years ago. Can't remember how long he got

That was  obviously a case of 'who do you believe more'?  As there wouldnt  be any  physical evidence given it was so long ago

Jeffrey has too many accusations thrown at him . You'd imagine  at least one of them  will  stick  . If it was a once off  , he   might have more chance of getting off.

Really all comes down to who the jury believe most and who's stories align best.  The meeting in Armoy is key as while it is circumstantial it wasn't denied that there was a meeting,  why have the meeting in the first place if there were no issues.  I think he could be in trouble

Why would a direct descendent and another close relation make the accusations if they were not real?

They destroyed familial relationships in bringing the case.
They aren't going to gain monetary.
Indeed, they are more likely to lose out financially (inheritance).


I though the (at least what was reported) defence barrister's arguments yesterday were disgusting and the judge really should have pulled him on it.

Small wonder that so few rape crimes come to court if the defence are allowed to carry themselves like that.

Would the letter of apology and his wife's disclosure that she was uncomfortable about the incident and raised it with him several times but to no avail, not also be key? Also the affair he had surely tarnishes his holier than thou reputation
