Agreed, better team won. Best of luck for the rest of the year.

I don't even think they were great but Derry have gone back as they year has progressed!
Not saying they were. From a Derry perspective we didn't get enough hands on ball from kickouts and a few players who peaked 3 or 4 years ago are fading. Need an injection of youth next season with the likes of Sargent, Young x2, C Higgins, Rogers etc getting game time.

No Saturday game? West Brits showing the pansy ball instead??

I didn't see that you asshole!

One would contend that it is you that is the asshole.

Everyone's an asshole. That's how it works online, right?

Probably, I certainly am. Best of luck tomorrow.

The positives from that is that its clear that we're in a rebuild (but from a decent base), and we've given some of the young lads a shot. A lot of lads that were our best players 3 years ago look jaded. Hopefully we use the league next year to get more of the young lads bedded in. Meath deserved the win today but theyll need to improve if they are to progress further. I was surprised how little Morris was highlighted by the pundits. He was clearly in some discomfort before throw in and really didn't run at Derry the way we know he can.

Quote from: David McKeown on June 13, 2026, 08:00:15 PMSo was he correct or incorrect in the approach he took in the last round?
I think he's one of the best refs, knows how to manage a game especially when heating up with players acting the mick. He stood tall out there when players were leaving the pitch together.
Maybe he made a technical error in Tralee.

I must say, I used to think Hurson was good.  He's a coward.  Should have sent off Clifford and McGuinness in Killarney.  Now makes up for that lack of integrity by dishing out 4 blacks against lesser teams.  I'd be interested in hearing which of the specific black card offences the 4 players committed.  If you can't make the difficult calls when they should be made you have no place on the big stage.

That Donegal steward going to go viral with the heavy handedness on the cork man who tried to get on the pitch at the end.

A coward?
He was a p***k last week.
Why can nobody just give their opinion without having to resort to that sort of personal abuse.
Just say you think he got it wrong if that's what you believe

Seen at half time Morris had the hand all bandaged up before putting his gloves on

Quote from: twohands!!! on June 13, 2026, 07:30:50 PMGot a message from a Cork friend who travelled - he was out of his head with joy.
He did say he thinks Michael Murphy could be in a bit of bother on the discipline front - gave his trademark dig to the ribs to Sheedy (who had to go off to get treatment) and it looked to be a clear striking motion,Gough did give him a yellow after but my friend did say it could have been for dissent as there was a bit of a verbal/flare-up with some of the Cork players. Might be nothing, might be something given all the talk about Murphy and Jimmy and the disciplinary system.

I'll eat my hat if  he gets a retrospective ban

The thing is , the fist to  the midriff is hard to spot.  Which is why he does it. Incapacitates the opponent .

Murphy  knows what he's doing , and knows he'll get away  with it, which is why he's been doing it (and getting away with it) for so  long

The thing with him is though he seems quite happy to hurt people and it has happened time and again. It's clearly more than rashness.

Tbh Derry are better than I thought they were. They actually lack in defense and midfield more than forwards. One observation would be though - Meath clearly learned and shut down McEvoy. Derry did not do the same on keoghan who was killing them and they were slow on changing marker on colon.

Not sure what u are referring to but I take it that's it was my comment that he is a coward.  I absolutely stick with that.  It wasn't a case of him making a mistake.  The infringements in Killarney were clear cut.  He chose to ignore them, so not a mistake.  Not wrong interpretations. A choice to not take action on what were clear red card offences.  But this evening, big balls.

Cork's Tommy Walsh took 10+ steps on two separate occasions before kicking his 2 pointer  ;D

The apparent Sherlock breach looked bad, would like to see a different ankle of it.

Quote from: twohands!!! on June 12, 2026, 02:11:48 PMIf things don't go well for Cork I could see Donegal giving them an almighty thumping. I can see Cork really struggling to get scores, especially if Donegal manage Sherlock like Kerry did as opposed to how Meath did. That Donegal defence looks light years ahead of what Meath offered the last day.

Can't see Westmeath surprising Galway or Kildare surprising Kerry (who look to have most of their big-hitter back in the 26) Likewise Armagh and Louth. Those are the 4 I'd have as pretty much bankers. The remaining 4 games are far more up in the air to my mind.

Looking at the team-sheets that Mayo front 6 has me leaning a bit more towards Tyrone.

Monaghan v Roscommon I'm still humming and hawing over - maybe a slight nod to the Rossies but Smith out is a loss but Monaghan have been so inconsistently yo-yo in games it's hard to give them the nod - look great in patches looked muck in patches.

Leaning Derry at home but not hugely convinced more to do with how badly Meath managed the end of the Cork game. Letting any team who are a man down overtake and beat you down the stretch is a bad sign and I'd say it's worse because it's not really the type of fight-back I'd associate with this Cork football team and the fact that they did it to Meath in both the league and championship is a massive red flag.

Dublin Cavan I don't know - both teams going through the motions a bit, maybe Brennan back might favour Dublin. All depends on how the last of the old lads perform for them.

I won't be asking you for the lotto numbers lol.

Anyway not at the match as abroad. Thankfully got to watch it. Highly entertaining game. But as paddy power will tell anyone who asks I knew we would beat them. Don't ask me why but the league game was enough to show me we have the measure of most of the Ulster sides. Meath were dominant and to be honest only for a soft goal the margin would have been a lot bigger. In a way it was the perfect draw for Meath on the back of the last 2 games. The gut punch against the wearies was still hanging over us v cork in cork. See what they did to the overhyped Donegal in Donegal. Hopefully that is now left to one side. Who we get in next round i think is irrelevant. We just have to focus on our own strengths.
