Paudie had a poor game on Saturday because our kickout strategy is so easily telegraphed. Paudie for a short, CD mid range to the sideline or bomb out to the middle and hope for the best. McEvoy and Dan Higgins will be far more suited to go up against Meath's big men of Jack Flynn & Bryan Menton around the middle. Armagh ran the legs off McEvoy and game passed him by. Meath are similar in a way to Monaghan love a kick pass and go for 2 pointers from distance from all directions so we've been warned need to apply pressure and tackle outside the arc. Jordy Morris, James Conlan, Matthew Costello and Ruairi Kinsella are their men that need tagged. Their achilles heel is their defence so lets hope we really improve our conversion rate in front of the posts.

Derry City due to play Bohemians in Celtic park on Friday 12th so you'd imagine the Meath game will be the Sunday.

Re Sat, games have already been played the day after the soccer.
It has been mentioned on here, but someone else confirmed it's Sat at 5pm

Who confirmed that?

Quote from: jb77 on June 02, 2026, 11:12:31 AMMurray was a big miss in Croke Park the first day out, Jack Flynn ran riot so that will need addressed too. I think it's a massive swing getting Meath out of Croke Park and into a tighter Celtic Park.

Wasn't a massive turnout for Derry vs Galway in the round robin last year but those who made the effort made plenty of racket

On that, does anyone know the size of each county pitch?

I keep hearing that this pitch, and that pitch is the exact same dimensions of Croke Park but are they?

Croke Park 'looks' a lot bigger than the most of them but anybody know the exact dimensions?

There's a list out there somewhere and you can pull a dimension on google earth if really interested, Croke Park is a tad under max size at 145 x 88, Celtic Park is 138 x 83-84. Casement Park used to be 145x90 which is absolute max, Dr Hyde Park is max size as well. Croke Parks camera angle makes it look really stretched but it's still a huge pitch.

Derry have trained all year on Celtic Park so they should know every blade of it by now.

Owenbeg is the same dimensions as Croke Pk. The two fenced pitches out behind the main stand at Owenbeg , 1 pitch is the same dimensions as the stadium pitch and 1 is the same as Celtic Pk.

It doesn't matter what the dimensions of the pitch are. If we play the same slomo football against whatever the opposition we will lose. Time to remove the shackles, return the original shape of the team and have runners coming from deep and over the shoulder as in the good old days. The first half against Monaghan was very good. Meath or Kildare at home was always going to be the best draw possible. If we can't win that then let the rebuild begin.

So you're saying that 2 pitches in Owenbeg are the size of Croke Park and the other one is the size of Celtic Park?

You could be right but I find that hard to believe.

Stranger things have happened 🫣. Makes perfect sense though, no ?

I can't comment on the other pitches in owenbeg, but the stadium pitch is the same size as Croker.

Quick use of google maps:
Stadium Pitch - very close to croke park dimensions
Pitch closest to the stand - few metres narrower but similar length
Next pitch over - very close to celtic park dimension (these 2 pitches similar width, just one longer)

Meath game confirmed for Saturday 13th June 7pm at Celtic Park

Timed for Gaago so. Meath supporters won't be happy but good for the local hotels.
