I think McCloskey needs come in to the halfback line. His trademark runs from deep he cant really do anymore as he normally one of the last 3. If Murray out, Kearney or C Higgins needs a chance in the corner. Be tempted to move McGuigan to the corner and start the Newbridge man at full forward.Again alot of all this personel changes should been tried in the league, but some men were injured.

That's a pretty wild attempt at a team.
Please elaborate?

Forbes at centre back? Rogers at centre half back? McKinless at left half back?

I mean within the first few positions you have men all over the place. Rogers played CHB last year. Everyone to a man agreed it was a waste, the man needs to play a traditional midfield role instead of being given man marking jobs. McKinless not the force of old but should only be used centrally. Not effective so far wide. Forbes should really be in the half back line and if anyone dropping back it should be Paudi.

Paul Cassidy as full forward? On what basis? Loughlin as centre forward not the worst idea but surely Higgins in there makes more sense? McGuigan pulled out to left half forward? Why? He is going through a bad spell, God forbid a man who has been shooting the lights out for years has a bad patch. He will come good. He just has to play through it.

Thats our best team at the minute. An argument maybe for McEvoy to go to 6. McKinless an impact sub. Forbes into half back line. McGrogan back to 3.

Anyone dropping McGrogan needs tested for LSD

He was poor on Sat, possible move to corner back.

Like a number of players, he's living on his past reputation.

My team has Forbes at Corner Back.

There is no basis for continuing with Mc Evoy further out the pitch. He gets lost around midfield, rarely catches clean ball and isn't giving an option of breaking any lines going forward.
Rogers spend long periods on Saturday in around full back purely because there is nobody else we can currently trust in there.

Mc Grogan struggles for pace when out around half back. Mc Guigan wants to be out around centre half forward he's not a traditional full forward where he can beat a man or get a shot off quickly, he's also not a quick as Paul Cassidy.
Paul wants to take men on, is fast and direct, is that not what we need in a full forward?

What is your thinking in dropping Forbes who I think has been one of our better players this season?

Shea Mc Guckian has been decent at times this year but I don't see the reason in continuing with him as the keeper, for our long term development its pointless.
Realistically when Lynch returns Shea won't even be the keeper for his club, he'll probably go back to half forward.

Long term goalkeepers for Derry currently are Lynch, Scullion and Regan lets develop them rather than this temporary patch up measures we've been running with for almost 2 years.

Past reputation? He's probably been derry's best player all season

Home draw. Avoided Kerry. I think that is about as much as we could have hoped for. Should be a good game. The kind of game that could kick start a season for both teams.

And hopefully attract a good home support, it will be needed.

That's a good draw for us - knock out match at home against a team that beat us in the league. No shortage of motivation, we'll be underdogs and there's a point to prove.
I hope Murray is fit, but outside of that I'd love to see some of the younger lads getting a start, then spring the experience from the bench going down the line.

Hard to argue against any of that. Would have been plenty of teams in the draw happy to draw us. Was important to get a home draw and avoid Kerry. Just hope this is a game that can inject some kind of motivation back into the lads.

Murray was a big miss in Croke Park the first day out, Jack Flynn ran riot so that will need addressed too. I think it's a massive swing getting Meath out of Croke Park and into a tighter Celtic Park.

Wasn't a massive turnout for Derry vs Galway in the round robin last year but those who made the effort made plenty of racket

He's definitely not. Whilst he hadn't a great game on Sat, he's absolutely put it in all year, 2 of the first names on the teamsheet for me

We need that again, some roar when they went in at half time.
