Giving Brennan 3 months while Burns see a month for thumping someone doesnt make sense. So what happens if a supporter enters the field or aftergame celebrations and starts pushing players.
Have ya seen the size of inter county players now, that'd end badly for them lol

Will Burns get a month or just one game?

Wildweasel74

U confusing size with ability to box, a all too common mistake.

Jim McGuinness stared down the authorities and they blinked first.
A terrible decision.

balladmaker

Is there still a prominent Donegal figure on the CCCC?

Anyway, was little in it but I get the fact the rules are the rules and Ger Brennan must be having a WTF moment right now.

SaffronSports

Inconsistency, the theme of Burns presidency

Genuinely
Why is it the right decision ?
The Rule was clear and he deserved punishment .
There is no mitigation under the rule .
The rule is shite. I'm far from a fan of Donegal or Jimmy but a 12 week ban for what he did would be daft.  Maybe one game max

Think its more to do with any laying hands on a player at all and the 12 weeks being the only penalty available.

Suppose idea at time was to draw a solid line under managers getting too heated.

Many suspected a cop out but still galling how bad it is. Cliffords is far worse, a role model for kids being seen to do what he wants.

Still very much an amateur sport.

Given their high profiles, and the teams ranking as number 1 and 2 in the country (debatable as to who is number 1 of course) the GAA hierarchy clearly don't want to absorb blame for either team having an early exit as a result of a manager or star player being banned.

McGuiness, there was nothing in it of course, but he cannot take it upon himself to go around pushing opposition players, I don't care what the situation is.  Clifford the luckier of the two to get away scott free.

The big issue here is the inconsistency being applied, as these calls reek of favoritism towards the big teams.

No issue doing it to the eventual All Ireland champions in 2024.

Whilst I have no issue with the decision to take no action per se I think the Association would do itself a significant favour if came and said why Clifford's initial elbow was not considered a category iii infraction and why McGuinness was deemed by either the referee or the CCCC as having caused minor interference with an opponent.

Otherwise I fear claims of inconsistency and favouritism will blight the Chanpionship.

It smacks of favouritism and a reluctance to punish the big guns. That's what it looks like from the outside to a good few people i would say.
That's just, like your opinion man.

bennydorano

Seems like an almighty cop out that will follow the CCCC like a bad smell for the rest of the year. The one supposedly airtight regulation undermined.

Maybe his  bitching about having to go to Roscommon last year  has paid off now

TyroneTam

Completely ridiculous decision that totally undermines a seemingly airtight rule... management teams stay out of rows and never lay hands on opposition players/management.

Id be absolutely furious if I was a Dub right now

DaleCooper

Total expediency for the sake of the "spectacle". Sets a bad example whatever about unfairness to Dublin. If you are expecting a detailed breakdown of the rationale you will be waiting a while.

trueblue1234

Shambles of a decision. Especially on McGuiness. There's a reason why they put "minor" interference in there. It's to show there is zero tolerance for any sort of infraction. Zero. Which is the way it should be for fear a minor action could result in more significant retaliating actions.
A cop out and a disgrace.

*I should add that the action itself was indeed minor and potentially understandable given the circumstances. But should still have been punishable. Brennan should be up in arms about this and should be putting serious pressure on the GAA to explain their positions.

And if he does, I hope he's given short shrift.
