McFaul didnt retire, he wanted to return in Jan, where Meenagh wanted him out from Nov. From what i seen the nite, i have him bck on physicality alone

Ryan O

Forbes should have been on Mulroy issue was that our two corner backs weren't tall enough to pick up the 14 and we couldn't put Paudi on him as he was drifting out round the middle too much, which would have left us exposed as bit.

Now that Mc Evoy is back thats a bigger physical presence in our defense.
CD can't be given a man marking job as he offers too much going forward.

😂, not sure theres man Mc Keevers floating about at the minute.

Quote from: Mario on March 14, 2026, 06:45:24 PMNeed a big favour from Tyrone next week. No guarantee Cork will win in Omagh, though Tyrone have nothing to play for.
Surely they'd want to avoid Tailteann Cup? Another loss wouldn't help.
Don't think their league position will change win lose or draw
At that level in division 2 and with Kildare guaranteed an all Ireland slot, you can't take chances. They could definitely end up in tailteann cup with one or two unexpected results. If cavan win today it really ups the pressure on Tyrone as another loss leaves them with the possibility of 3rd bottom.
Hard to see them not giving it 100%.

What's age got to do with it?

Same age as rodgers and McKinless.

As far as I hear he only opted out this season due to current personal commitments, don't think it's meant to be permanent. Physically I'd say he was the strongest man Derry had, hard as nails.

Yesterday , anyone in the front 8 the exception of Niall L. It's not about dropping anyone in particular though , it's about strengthening the squad and lessening the impact of injuries to key men
Whilst we didn't really get a grip on the game , plenty of chances were created on a tight pitch against a dogged Louth team who have serious fitness levels and speed. They are very strong right down the spine of the team

Can Tyrone beat Cork at home? 😬

Yes they can but will they if cork show up? Was at the game yesterday and have major issues which show no signs in changing

Ryan O

Good to see Mc Geeney having a pop at Gough, man just craves the attention every game he's involved in.

If anyone seen Cawley swaggering about Ardee yesterday before the game started you would have thought we all went there to see him.
These refs egos are away mad at the minute, this demanding respect has to be a two way street.
Does anyone know if their performances are analysed and if they have told to improve the current standard.

The advantage rule needs looked at, you've people still playing advantage and the ball 45 yards up the pitch, surely once its kicked to a teammate and retained advantage is over?

Maghera was Black

I was at it yesterday McKinless picked up Mulroy in the 2nd half and even with his old tricks and array of dark arts he couldn't get near him  tbf it's been the only game McKinless has come out second best this year. Ardee a unique venue deceptive breeze but 4 points in one half won't win too many matches. Probably a worse performance than against Meath, it was a Strange game as we had plenty of possession and done ok with the kickouts just simply had no answers against a very organised Louth defence.

Wildweasel74

McKinless was nowhere near him many times if he was supposed to be picking him up.

McKinless along with Loughlin were our two best players by some distance imo. They were the 2 that continually tried to get the team over the line when most around them were flat for some reason...no one man was on Mulroy, seemed to be whoever was closest . If Devlin sends players out to rough McKinless up, he is well within his rights not to take it. I was standing with a couple of Shamrocks folks and they were keeping a v close eye

They were very flat.. looked like a squad that spent the last two weeks doing a block of running. Anyone in the vicinity of Luke Barrett could hear him shouting "Pressure" every 3 seconds but it just  wasn't happening.

Derry just didn't do enough in first half. They look very flat and Louth were well up for it.

Derry could have played until today and wouldn't hsve won. Should have been prepared for war in Ardee but clearly weren't for whatwver reason. Some people on another thread I think, thought Mulroy wasn't a top forward. He run the show yesterday. Floated in and out of game but always made an impact.

Dery weren't as good as they were V Cork and conversely, aren't as bad as they showed yesterday. They'll be disapointed to lose their winning run yesterday but the were well beaten.

That's always a great excuse in the GAA after a defeat.
