Some legacy Jarlath. Hang your head in shame...

..."Following Ryan's delivery, GAA president Jarlath Burns interpreted the lack of comment from the floor about Allianz as an endorsement of the action the GAA took to retain the firm as sponsors and underwriters.

"If Coiste Bainisti have to make a tough decision on your behalf, that's when you realise the mantle of leadership is weighing very heavy on your shoulders.

"Sometimes, you have to make hard, tough decisions and we all know what we're talking about. I thank you for the fact that you have endorsed the decisions that we have taken.

"You might not have all agreed with them but you understand we made them for the betterment of the Association and for the people to whom we are responsible for and the games we are responsible for."

For the betterment of the Association?

True, Jarlath hasn't been great.
I think that's being kind. A lot of people confused his ability as an orator with potential ability to run the Association. He's not done yet but a couple of big speeches in HQ and the 2 pointer wouldn't be much of a legacy. Unfortunately for him most of his headlines were for sticking his nose into Rory Gallagher's business, and more recently backing Allianz.

Did he please anyone though?

It was kind of foreboding in 2015 when he suggested the tricolour and anthem could be removed from matches to accommodate Unionists, and then retreated from that position when there was a very negative reaction from GAA members.

I thought he be good as i thought the guy b4 done little, maybe wanted a pres from the north for a run, but whats he done in 3yrs? I thought he tighted up on the playacting, players appealing every red,etc but never went near that.Done a run on Gallagher but ignored the Hayes issue but nothing about u lad from Antrim. So hes mixed messages there. Nothing else really much to say, hes done nothing off note, Casement could ever be in a worse situation than 3yrs ago.

In fairness to Burns, and I have my criticisms of him, the oratory and the show is possibly the biggest part of his role. Running the association is the role of the Ard Stiúrthóir.

It was highlighted when Burns was running for the position initially that the role of Uachrarán was limited in its executive scope, and that some of the media coverage he was getting was maybe a little excessive in light of that. Burns too was clear that he intended to be more than just a figurehead. He has most certainly "got involved" during his term.

Wouldn't be Jarlaths biggest fan as I've said on here plenty, but do have admiration for the man in that he sticks to his principles and acts in a way he believes benefits the organisation.

Was unbelievable having an Armagh man as president for the All Ireland win of course, however I am and always will be absolutely disgusted at him not speaking out on Allianz.

You lads are hard to please. I think he's done a good job overall and been very good for the game itself, which is in a much better place than it was when he took over. I'll be sorry to see him go. Armagh should be proud of him.

The rollout of the new football rules is the best thing any president has overseen in generations.

Well, that's a matter  of opinion

The beginning of the Croke Park redevelopment  under Peter Quinn was far more significant

Started days  after 1993 final. So  just short of 32 and a half  years ago

How many years are considered a generation? Would  that even be two?

anyway, my point stands. The development more significant  in my lifetime

Jarlath a good guy.
Had all the attributes for a good President.
If he had any fault - it was that he loved the sound of his own voice.
