Quote from: RouskyRanger on February 23, 2026, 04:56:30 PMSome men on here are mad. Morgan been off the boil, conn very average, daly not a midfielder, cullen no feet, cassidy is a forward, burns not a footballer, mckernan not a 6, strength and conditioning doesnt look anywhere near what it was in years gone by. Only going to get worse when darragh goes hotel trivago

Wouldnt be running to sack a manager but when everyone can see what he's doing wrong and he's not seeing it himself its not looking good.
the county board should ring peter donnelly and pay him whatever it takes.

Maybe in the wrong but I thought Daly was one of the better ones yesterday an a much better all round footballer than con at the moment. Ben Cullen can kick 2 pointers and showed that for his uni but doesn't look like he's capable at the moment.

Just wondering who is the younger lad on the line with the water boy bib on?

That's Mickey Moynagh on the line but again would he be the differential we need. It's unlikely.

No not him ha. Younger lad does a bit of shouting on potential breaks

Conor McCrory I think you're describing, he's the s&c coach (or one of them)

Thanks that's him. Is Peter Hughes involvement online only?

Think it is but not sure. S&C is massive, won 3 of the last 4 all ireland u20, the minors also great talent coming through. the ability is there the main focus should be getting all them lads up to the speed and physicality for senior level.

Total panic at last quarter of Louth match pure headless chicken That is the opposite of management  Tyrone have had a bad shot success rate for many years but with 2 pointers the game is radically different especially on a day with a near gale blowing straight down the pitch. The total inepitude in setting up 2 point shots killed Tyrone ( with that wind 40m = 25) and took the heart out of the team. The conceding of a ludicrous gaol sorry goal set the tone. 5 players in wrong positions bizarre. It is the opposite of management and the utter failure of S&C is disgraceful. Also picking young skinny players in central positions ( McElhom Daly) in a game where strong shooters rule. Teague is a good manmarker (eg. kept O'Shea mmainly out of AI semi last year after he scored 8pt v Armagh earlier) but not used to free up McKernan more.  If Dazzler and RC were fit (if they were on the bench unfit that was even stupider) why were they not on for at least 30 minutes ( the writing was clearly on the wall  within a few miniutes of 2nd half) instead of in a panic too late? Tyrone need management not something like a junior team hang over from 1980s.

Who do you feel would be our best option as manager ?

Surely Damien O'Hagan and Peter Herron could take charge and bring Peter Donnelly in as a favour till end of year and then organise a proper contract for the man.

they've done it often enough for the fianna...

There won't be a change of manager after a few league games. This is not the Premiership or Celtic... now go and do your homework

Last 5 games summary

McKenna cup Semi - leading in the second half. Couldnt maintain the effort, soundly beaten by Monaghan

NFL round 1 - leading by 3 points with an extra man well into second half, couldnt maintain the effort. It ended a draw, felt like a defeat.

NFL round 2 - leading against Derry midway through the second half. Tailed off very badly. Outfought by a Derry team completely shot in confidence

NFL round 3 - Cavan were too bad to be true on the day. Result best ignored.

NFL round 4 - Encouraging first half against a driving wind. Couldnt maintain effort in second half and again outfought by limited enough opposition.

There's a real pattern here of tailing off badly towards the end of the games.
Its pretty obvious that the pre season work hasnt been done.
We are been let down by poor strength and conditioning. And that is on Malachy.

Well given that the last person leading on the S&C was let go after last season it's clearly something that was identified as an issue and that needed improvement.

As I understand it Peter Hughes is meant to be relocating home to Ireland but he has a young family so that sort of travel isn't always the most straightforward. It'd certainly be better if he was on the ground.

That said I'm less worried about the S&C (while acknowledging it's an issue) and more worried about the strategy is in attack. We don't look particularly well coached - something Cahair O'Kane touched on in the Irish News today.

The other issue I'd have is accountability and what that looks like. Niall Morgan's not been close to his normal level so far. His kickouts have been critical to us conceding a goal in each game to date. There's no chance he'll be dropped - even after taking a holiday and only returning the night before a game. If I'm Oisin O'Kane or Jack Gibney I'd be asking serious questions.

Similarly there's a lack of disrespect to include Cathal Donaghy on the panel for the Louth game when it was known he'd left the panel the at the beginning of the week before the game. Sat a bit uneasy with me that

the goal was on

Missing most of last years defence at moment and in those first few games maybe 4/5 summer starters so hard to judge. Niall Devlin big loss as he was in great form . Teague should be back soon and mc geary maybe as well.
A fresh peter Harte too with some luck.  Size is massive issue and no obvious solution to that particular problem. Winter football is a big man's game according to many !
