I think the man has alot more on his plate to deal with first.

Whats this about?

He was exposed a few times on the pitch last year. Not sure if he was fully fit or not but he def gets exposed when marking quick forwards.

Lots of rumours circulating around him, once he gets himself sorted he will be back no doubt. Still one of best players and a great leader.

Well then, there is no issue, move on.

Apparently 9 of the panel are ineligible to play tomorrow evening.

Wouldn't have happened in mickeys day

Tyrone have the talent. Tomorrow should be a walk in the park and the final will be easier.(Nobody gives a f*ck about mckenna cup) Tyrone have all the right things in place the last thing we want to do now is pick up injuries. Which is IMO the only thing that could jeopardise Tyrone having a great year. A lot of pressure on Peter Hughes now in charge of 35-45 players... tough job. Would need 5 men with him alongside doctors, physio and masseuses. Two hamstrings in 15 mins into second game isn't great. MOR has to be careful. Will see what his mentality is like if he risks it for McKenna cup. Should be keeping his cards tight to his chest for another two weeks.

According to the Irish News our opponents Monaghan have 11 men who are at various colleges still involved in sigerson not playing tomorrow

So much football on heavy pitches, coming off the back of a lay off. Recipe for disaster

Id rather get beat by point and pick up no injuries, than win with an injury concern.
We could probably do without a McKenna cup final likely against Donegal on Saturday evening.

Lock in now on Kildare. Derry the week after. Need two wins.

Tyrone Donegal Boarder

I think a massive issue for Tyrone is the full back position, not an easy fix as you can't just make one. The last few years through club football the standout has been Peter McCaughey so it's good to see him get a call up.

Paudie Hampsey and Peter Teague? Even Aidan Clarke, now McCaughey as well. Then you have Ben Hughes coming through off the U20s. Think we are pretty well set at full back.

Would like to see Nathan McCarron get a run there two. He is probably the biggest defender we have in the squad..still no sign of a team announcement

Nathan Kelly one of the best 3s in the county past few years never got a look in though?

O'Hare in and playing out of position at wing forward. Not ideal for the lad trying to make an impression and get established. Hopefully see a good showing from Cathal Donaghy and set him up for a run at Wing Forward in the League.

Hand of God

Very short on forwards tonight due to Sigerson lads missing and other injuries.

Good to see O'Hare and Dalaigh Jones still involved

Quote from: God14 on January 12, 2026, 08:50:07 AMI feel like this is the first time in a long time that proper trials have been done, all the best players in the county (bar Paul Donaghy whom doesnt want it) are in Malachy's 45 man roster.
I genuinely think he doesnt know his best 15 either, which makes it very interesting.

He should have a very good idea of 8-10 certain starters with an open mind to 5 or 6, but who they are and for what reasons could fundamentally change the setup and shape, which he'll obviously be fully aware of

If they go well he'll be lauded, if they underachieve he'll be considered clueless. I personally don't think Tyrone are quite AI contenders this year, the defence and MF are A1, the inside fw line is A1, 10 and 12 we've no bothers assuming its O'Donnell and Daly - the problem is 11, someone who is given less defensive responsibility, who is totally there to create and score is the big item to address, Ruairi Canavan definitely an option, not a whole pile of others who stand out in that mould

I'd consider McElholm a year or 2 early as well, possible future Brian McGuigan level, impact sub role for 2026 as he's pure greased lightening

No Dalaigh Jones then?
Morgan
McKernan
Niall Devlin
Conn Kilpatrick
Brian Kennedy
Ciaran Daly
Darragh Canavan
Darren McCurry

That would be the only players I would say are nailed on guaranteed starters. Mattie Donnelly, Kieran McGeary and Paudie Hampsey probably also fall into this for 2026. I would disagree on Seanie O'Donnell, I think he is more natural  at wing back coming onto the play. I feel we need a third midfielder option or two operating at 11 and 12. And going by the profile of the players called up it looks like MO'R is trying to get that type of player into his half forward line.

I'd have question marks on McCurry and Daly there and I think I would have Teague in there as a nailed on starter on last year's form.

McCurry had some very disappointing outings last year v Kerry and Dublin. Not sure how well himself and Canavan work together as an inside duo as they are both small, skilful players so would probably rather a target man in there to feed off. I think I'd like to see a full forward line or Conroy, McGarrity, Canavan in the league.

Daly improved last year but still blows hot and cold too much for me. He'll probably start but will need to improve for me.

I'd like something like the following for the league:

Morgan

Clarke
Hampsey
Devlin

McKernan
Teague
O'Donnell

Kennedy
Kilpatrick

M Donnelly
R Canavan
C Donaghy

Conroy
McGarrity
D Canavan

Bolded ones being locked in starters.

Potential bench then of:

O'Kane
Cormac Quinn
Cullen
R Brennan
J Clarke
McDonnell
Oguz
Daly
McElhom
McCurry
Cassidy

Have I any glaring omissions there? McGeary hopefully about later on in the year to come in too.
I'd keep O'Neill and McCullaghs involvement fairly limited until such time as they have their u20 commitments out of the way.

I think McCurry and McElhom are worth 30-40 minutes each and Ruari Canavan was approaching a Brian McGuigan role against Armagh and has muscled up a wee bit which is badly needed. Not sure about McGarrity and full fwd. Real pity Donaghy is not willing to get involved but l think McCullagh is more ready than given credit for, a big rangy full forward is badly needed.
