Quote from: Stall the Bailer on January 11, 2026, 03:11:17 PMAt All Ireland level there is 3 grades. Most counties split their championship in 3 with a fairly even split between them. Kerry are one of the outliers who don't split the divisions like this.

Huh???
2025 Kerry Championship:
16 senior teams
16 intermediate teams
16 junior teams
So they only have 48 clubs now? What happened the rest. What division do the regional teams play in?

Not really. This has been talked about at length but our leagues are over long ago and are not taken very seriously at all. They'd have had as much a challenge in Intermediate championship as Div 1 league in terms of preparation.
Surely facing Glen, Slaughtneil, Bellaghy, Lavey etc "not taking their league seriously" is better prep than Claudy, Desertmartin, etc doing same.
Castledawson faced those same teams in Div 1 and didnt win a championship game in Intermediate.
I'm very closely involved in the club game and all I can tell you is it has little to no impact.
It was so long ago it's almost like a preseason at this stage.

general_lee

Maybe Castledawson are just shite? Surely you see the irony in Derry people complaining about Kerry when the same principle applies

Wildweasel74

How long to the horns run out!

Wildweasel74

Regional teams aint really a team!

jb77

Might as well call Ballinderry shite, they got some wreckings too

Tribesmen

Quote from: gallsman on January 11, 2026, 03:10:31 PMYeah, I'd not be arguing too much about how Glenullin are really up against it at intermediate level given this is their 62643874th bite at the cherry in the last few years.

Call to stop whining immediately followed by a whine, glorious 🤙

Of course they're a team ffs. They're not clubs.

Then again, I don't think anyone claims them as such.

As mentioned previously, divisional championships, a concept that people in most counties struggle to comprehend, matter significantly more in Kerry than county leagues. You have inter county players lining it in late October and November long after their county championship is over.

Look up the definition of irony there like a good lad. Every day's a school day.

Milltown Row2

Div1 Kerry team playing better than the div1 Derry team
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

gallsman

Going to have to put this on mute with the air horns. Christ it's dreadful. The football on show ain't much better so far.

Sportacus

Just thinking the same.

Horrible football. The fear of losing is so much stronger than the will to win.
