Quote from: J70 on December 18, 2025, 07:04:21 PMThe Dems are a normal, centrist, moderate party by western standards.

The Republicans are a far right, christian nationalist personality cult. What the DUP might have become had NI been a huge country.

But they're not

There are 4 Irish born people in my town

2 of us are moderate Republicans

1 is hard core MAGA

1 is a Democrat

The other moderate Republican is pro life. He and his wife were pressurized to terminate a pregnancy due to a (false) Down Syndrome diagnoses. The kid in question went to Harvard Medical Scholl and today is a neo natal surgeon at one of the most prestigious teaching hospitals in the world. Termination up to and including the date of delivery based on a Down Syndrome diagnosis is allowable in Massachusetts.

The MAGA supporter (a woman) had 2 sons at the local high school. The "woke mob" backed the the town Democratic committee tried to essentially ruin the life of one of their son's friends (and his family) due to a false homophobic accusation. (Graffiti in the bathroom of the  high school got pinned on the wrong person and the Democratic members of the school committee were advocating for hate crime charges to be filed against a 15 year old kid)

I'm not talking about whitey's friends in Massachusetts.

I'm talking about the national Republican Party which Trump has taken over lock, stock and barrel.

The day the party push back on any of Trump's historical extremism, narcissism, corruption and bigotry, you can come back to us.

In the meantime, places like Florida are banning chemtrails and fluoride, RFK Jr is trying to overturn decades of proven public health medicine, Trump is defunding science and medicine left, right and center, and Musk destroyed the lives of millions worldwide by "feeding USAID through the wood chipper".

Trump is getting his name on the Kennedy Center and his face on NPS park passes, cabinet meetings feature outlandish claims and toe-curlingly embarrassing fawning that would even make the Kims blush, there's talk about putting his face on one of the 250 year anniversary coins next year.

But sure it's all normal political party behaviour.

And I haven't even mentioned the immigration round-ups or the tariffs.

So after 4 years of Joe and Kamala 77000000 people felt the Republicans would do a better job

That was pretty stupid. Prices are still going up

Maybe

But this is equally as stupid

https://cis.org/Report/Massachusetts-Case-Study-Mass-Immigration-and-Welfare-State

Over the last decade (roughly 2014-2024), the U.S. saw significant, fluctuating immigration, with the total foreign-born population reaching a record high of over 47.8 million by 2023, growing by over 1.6 million people in just 2022-2023. While some periods saw record highs in legal permanent residency (around 1.2 million in 2016) and high numbers of new green cards (over 1 million in 2019), the 2020s brought record numbers of total arrivals, with over 11 million immigrants arriving between 2020-2025, including a peak of over 3 million in 2023 alone, shifting origin countries towards South America and Europe

Is this a new thing?

Spending $1B on shelter in one calendar year due to stupid open borders policies is new

Quote from: Puckoon on December 18, 2025, 11:34:29 PMI think perhaps it's your assertion that things are equally as bad, or as stupid, or as evil that is the rock your arguments wash up on (for me at least).

There are no arguments that the democratic leadership has been and is in a shambles. As Eamonn, and others have rightly pointed out however, things are not the same. Perhaps that's just where it becomes opinion and we move on, but there are plenty of facts to support the overall narrative. The cult of Trump is strong and rooted in pettiness, vengefulness and sheer hatred. His plaques yesterday and his address to the nation show him for what he is.

So on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being absolutely fvcking outrageous and disgraceful, I assume you would give Trumps Immigration policies a 10

So now put yourself in my shoes as a tax paying resident of Massachusetts and assign a similar score to how outraged you would be at this person being released into the community instead of being handed over to ICE

"On April 22, 2021, the Essex County Superior Court arraigned Avila for six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, eight counts of rape of a child with force and eight counts of aggravated statutory rape of a child"

What's your score?

Tin foil hat eh? Just logic and pattern recognition.

"On Thursday, authorities told CBS sources that they are investigating possible connections between the shooting and the killing of an Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) nuclear science and engineering professor two days later.

Nuno F Gomes Loureiro, 47, from Portugal, was shot "multiple times" on Monday at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts, which is about 50 miles (80km) from Providence.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect, sources told CBS. The sources said a rental car matching the same description was seen at both crime scenes".

And yeah, the Dems fucked it up, specifically on immigration and allowing Biden to press on with his deluded attempt to get a second term.

They can recover from that.

Where does the GOP go from here? Will the charlatans, the fascists, the bigots and the conspiracy theorists be thrown to the wolves? Or is the likes of Nick Fuentes and Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens the future as it currently appears?

MIT professor assassinated. Specialty was Nuclear fusion plasma behaviour.

Killed for being pro Israel it would seem.

From your own posts, is this not Tin Hat stuff considering its a pile a shite?

Give me your new theory

Main point being there was a connection, because Brown shooting happened in engineering/physics area and proximity/timing to MIT shooting.

Was speculating on the Israel angle due to events @Bondi Beach.

No matter, two bright kids are dead along with a brilliant Professor.

The suspect is a physics Grad at Brown himself , also Portuguese like the MIT victim and said to have attended same uni in Portugal. Maybe a personal vendetta against ex colleagues.

Good details here

I don't think Musk or his buddies pay Massachusetts State income taxes

Oh...the other idea the Democrats in Massachusetts have come up with is to charge drivers a tax per mile driven.

https://www.governing.com/transportation/massachusetts-considers-bill-to-limit-vehicle-miles-driven-statewide

The Demicratic politician behind it lives in a $2M house and represents probably the 3 wealthiest town in Massachusetts-8 miles from Downtown Boston

On the other hand, He has a 140 per day round trip commute

(Oh...one other thing. Trump is supposedly abolishing tax on overtime....which this guy does a lot of.....and it's mandatory overtime because he works for the power company and can't just pack up at 300 PM and go home)

Denn Forever

The per mile charge is for EV cars so may not be in favour.

Oh boo hoo. We all work hard and are up early and pay taxes for things we don't agree with. Is your union pal upset at Trump Jr's drone company getting a massive government contract? Or the literal billions Ivanka's husband is pulling in as Arab governments throw money his way to buy access and influence with Trump? Trump getting a free jet from the Qataris? Billionaires footing the bill for the White House ballroom in return for...? I'll bet he was upset over Hunter Biden.

As for defaulting to the GOP...

1. There are GOP politicians who are not corrupt, bigoted fascists like Trump. The defaulters could have voted for any of them.

2. The GOP MAGA base DOES want Trump. They are racist and fascist themselves and love his racism and fascism. MAGA entails about a third of the country. If the defaulters decide that student loan forgiveness or emergency care for illegals is a worse sin then Trump's corrosive effect on the US and the world, then either they're not paying attention or their moral compass needs some serious realignment.
