I think perhaps it's your assertion that things are equally as bad, or as stupid, or as evil that is the rock your arguments wash up on (for me at least).

There are no arguments that the democratic leadership has been and is in a shambles. As Eamonn, and others have rightly pointed out however, things are not the same. Perhaps that's just where it becomes opinion and we move on, but there are plenty of facts to support the overall narrative. The cult of Trump is strong and rooted in pettiness, vengefulness and sheer hatred. His plaques yesterday and his address to the nation show him for what he is.
