Quote from: AustinPowers on October 18, 2025, 10:08:49 PMDoesn't  the planning application  for casement run out soon?
Next summer I believe.

So, the GAA will just  let the application  run out then? Is that  the plan? Another year of nothing happening?

Time to swallow their pride , submit a  smaller, more realistic   plan, and get the hell on  with it.

At present, £170m (€194m) is available for a revised venue, which would comprise 18,000 seats and 12,000 terrace. GAA officials hope that figure can be augmented by £55m (€62.7m) if inflation is considered. In 2011, the Stormont Executive committed £62.5m (€71.3m) to the reconstruction of the Belfast venue, which would be over £93m (€106m) now. The GAA's own commitment of £15m (€17m) would jump to £22m (€25m). It was also revealed a total of £10m (€11.4m) will be required to complete remediation and dilapidation work.

Proposal
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

No Dublin money mentioned.

Duine Inteacht Eile

I think they have only mentioned the figures that would rise with 15 years inflation. The Dublin money wasn't on the table back then and therefore would not be expected to rise with inflation.
However, it must be included in the £170 million figure mentioned at the beginning because the other figures certainly don't get them there.

It was my understanding that Dublin was chipping in to get the Euros, not the stadium build in general. I think that €50m is long gone.

Your understanding is not correct. You have said previously that you read this somewhere and that you would dig it out. You didn't come back.

There is an issue though, when it proposed that Dublin are giving Antrim much more than it has given other counties in the 26. Why would a Louth or Meath person, counties with stadium projects, not think that a bit unbalanced? They could give half of what Stormont gives on the basis that they have 3 of the 9 Ulster counties, but more than that is a stretch. Perhaps a new rugby world cup bid can be devised to provide some cover?

Lets say that is comprised of 2 stands either side of 9,000 seats each and end terracing of 6,000 each (not an unrealistic assumption).

Could they not do a Stage #1 of 1 stand + 1 uncovered end terrace - just to get the pitch back open?

Then - based on observation of attendance and demand - stage #2 could be either a seated stand on other side, or covered terrace on other side. With stage #3 being the final uncovered end terrace.

Or is that all too obvious?
