Fair play to Courtwood they really made a game of it. They beat Portlaoise and St Joes so they deserved to be there and they could very well have lifted the cup.
You would wonder though, as is mostly the case, if they left their chance behind them. Very often replays end up going to the favourite and the intensity and competitiveness of the first game doesn't materialise.
Hopefully this won't be the case and it's another good contest.

The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. VinceLombardi

Really great game of football between both sides. One of the best finals I've seen in years and I hope the replay matches the performance from both teams. A few weird calls from the referee for both sides but overall I think a draw was a fair result. Be interesting to see now if Courtwood can rise to the occasion in 2 weeks time

On a separate note regarding the minor final, what has happened to football in Killeshin that they have to go in with Crettyard and Spink and have only 4 players on the panel. It was pointed out to be during the game that there were lads from Killeshin playing on that team also which amazed me. Also, should they not be aligned with Graiguecullen as they are from the one parish. That's some geographical size pick when you consider it is all of Ballinakill, Killeshin, Crettyard and Spink combined. Portlaoise showed them far too much respect and got caught for it. Had they gone and played a more attacking brand of football and applied more pressure out the field it might have yielded better results for them.

Killeshin has some good underage teams and big numbers at academy level too. They have been competitive at a few grades this year. Plenty of people settling in the area, houses being built there and also seem to be benefiting from a growing primary school where there is a good emphasis on football. My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that Killeshin had a minor team this year which competed at another grade but that the top lads/certain amount  of lads were also permitted to play for this amalgamation in the A competition too.

This definitely is not the case.

On the senior final, bit disappointing to hear the Portarlington manager whinging after the game.
Having watched it back, Colm Murphy wasn't fouled at all that time.
Actually, the biggest decision gotten wrong was the short 45 which Paddy O'Sullivan scored a brilliant point off of. The Port keeper was miles into the other half coming up as he thought to kick the 45 leaving only three back.
If that had been properly spotted, that's a 13 metre free in front of the posts and probably game over.
Think he got the Jason Moore one right under the stand. Yellow card all day long. Never a black or red.
Exciting game but full of mistakes and missed chances/poor shooting. Both teams will feel they kinda left it behind.
Suspect Port will have learned a lot and might edge the replay.

port to win replay lads i think courtwood might have missed the bus. you never know ;)

Shocking call for the penalty. Neither team up to any standard. Laois football is in a bad place.

High Fielder

The only positive this year was Courtwood. A well coached team getting the absolute maximum out of their resources. They can feel exceptionally proud of themselves, and a little bit unlucky not to win a Senior.

I didn't see much in the penalty incident, but there didn't appear to be too much objection from Courtwood either, so hard to know. Overall another disappointing Championship and no real signs that the CB have any sort of plan to drive the thing forward. Portlaoise is the starting point. We just have to get more from a town of that size

How can you win a final without scoring from play and your keeper get 5 out of the 6 points. Good year for courtwood do.

High Fielder

It was just that type of game. For all the talent available to Port, they weren't exactly prolific either. Conditions weren't great and defences had the best of it. The standard wouldn't be up to much, but that's been the case for a long time

have to agree shocking game of football did courtwood go 40 odd mintues without scoring keeper getting two pointers from frees. as for port having a crack at lenister  its there 5 time out in 6 years and they are still as far off winning it.

From the Terrace

The conditions didn't help thought it was even enough.. the penalty was the difference, no way a penalty imo, also the free on O'Sullivam was soft.
Fair play to Port 5 championships in 6 years great work.

SCFC

Have to agree with other posters.
Poor game, probably mostly because of the conditions, and a really poor decision for the penalty which ultimately decided the game.
Courtwood will be disappointed with that but also with the fact that their forwards never clicked on the night mostly because the Port defence was excellent.
Port were poor enough on the night. Hope I'm wrong but hard to see them making an impact in Leinster.

Countyminor

That first game will be remembered for years to come as one of the finest finals we've had in a long time.

The decision for a replay must've been purely financial. Why did this go to a replay when the Senior B went to ET and penalties? Either apply this consistently or it makes a mockery out of the competition IMO.

Another point - not the first time we've set up our county champions for a difficult start in Leinster. A week turnaround post a county final simply isn't enough for any side. We did the same with Joseph's back in 2023 and gave Portlaoise a day turnaround after the 2015 replay. Almost like we don't want to start on a proper footing, the Leinster draw is made months in advance FFS 😂

One last point - the digs at the quality I find a bit tasteless. Yes, the championship needs to be reduced, but judging fella's based on a match played in difficult underfoot conditions on a soggy pitch... I find it a bit unnecessary. Any club game would've been a poor watch in OMP Saturday night. Again, probably a reflection on the fact this final should've been wrapped up two weeks earlier when the ground was a bit firmer.
