Sean Og Patriots

Quote from: bringbackdregish on September 29, 2025, 03:40:33 PMHard luck to Donaghmore and poster Sean Og Patriots.

Maybe next year will be their year...

Dont chat fella. Sick to the stomach!

All them years going by reading stuff on here about the top teams in div1 championship, thinking maybe one day Donaghmore will be competing with the top teams.  :'(  :'(

Hope kills you. Our young lads will be back & the two lads missing due to injury will maybe get us another game in the championship next year. All the best to Lough now, theirs to lose.
I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. All Ireland Club - 2030.

And if not next year the year after and if not that year the year after and if not...

Quote from: drgeorge on September 29, 2025, 03:12:18 PMHearing Pomeroy and Omagh both on the Sunday! Not sure why the Sunday, when they expect Junior to be happy with Saturdays!

To be fair, Junior is only on saturday this week because of the two Hurling finals on sunday. Have to give them their day in all respect

TheDergView

I had guess Omagh for both games purely for size of the crowd which will be there! No chance of a double header, see someone saying pomeroy, surely you couldn't expect a senior semi final to be played in that windy hole ffs.

Truthsayer

Pomeroy a windy hole? Have u been to Omagh? I'd take Pomeroy any day over that soulless cold pit.

WesternT

14:30 Loughmacrory vs Carrickmore

18:00 Errigal Ciaran vs Trillick

Double header in Omagh

Some double header alright.. watch the first game , play a round of golf then be home in time for throw up for ec vs trillick

Heard there's a penalty competition at half time everyone has to score. Cathal McShane apparently invited so can understand the gap in time

square_ball

What are those timings all about there? First game will be over by 4. County board get a lot right in terms of organising the championships but that's ridiculous.

Truthsayer

Am hearing is Pomeroy for the first game. That's more like it albeit Omagh is still cold soulless pit. .

Quote from: GAA Club Fan on September 28, 2025, 10:42:43 PMJust a few observations from the Championship so far.

- Re refs and the question re assessing them. What happens if the assessors says that the ref had a bad day? Who replaces said ref? It's obvious this year that the pool of refs is getting smaller. I regularly see a man reffing a game one day, 4th official that evening, linesman the next day. Does that take a toll on decision making eventually? It's a huge, huge issue, and I get the frustration but do forums like this help the situation or hinder it? I am guilty too of venting re refs when my team gets a rough deal. As an aside, have Sean Hurson or Mark Loughran reffed much this year? Two of the stronger refs, so I am surprised they have not been out more.

- The discipline in games has been good this year. I only recall a few red cards, and nothing that would be described as unsavoury. Players, officials, etc should be applauded regarding.

- The County Board really put out a great product for the Championship. Team sheets, set up, PR, live coverage etc. We all like to get a slap at the County Board at times but credit where it's due. In addition, teams playing every two weeks means that preparation for the teams has been better than previous years. With the 7 x starred game system next year that should improve further. We should be able to factor in a July break as well.

- The main thing I wanted to ask was, do you think that the new rules have ended the excitement of Championship upsets? Previously teams could have hung in and won with a sucker punch. The new rules mean that the best teams generally win, and that's not always a good thing. As an example of this take a look at the senior and all the games went to the favourites. Edendork beating Dromore might have raised an eye but not a shock as such. Intermediate and the only shock we had was Aghaloo beating Beragh, and even that was not seismic.

One thing that I have noticed and you have made reference to it that the pool of referees is small which in my opinion is contributing to the problem many of us are seeing with referee performances. If a referee has an abysmal performance those who are supposed to assess and give them feedback say nothing as they are aware of how little referees they have and don't want those they do have giving it up if the from being told they had a shocker. My own club are out of the championship this year (Wasn't the refs fault this time) but a few men along the line were telling me on several occasions when he made some very poor calls, calls that his linesmen and 4th officials could not comprehend and felt were wrong never used their headsets once to say I think you've got that wrong when it was clearly wrong. Its as if they don't want to tell the man in the middle that he is making bad calls in the event when its their turn to take control they don't want to be told they are having a bad day. Again we lost as we were poor but some of the calls didn't help us in the slightest and we have seen this weekend past these sort of calls can lose teams games.

Same in our championship game, sideline official turned around and shook his head and said "dont know" for a free blew. Shocking!

Anyone hear any chat of that young colton cub from fintona getting called up to the seniors this season?
