Mageean a full 24s behind Hull running a new WR in the 2,000m in Monaco tonight. Form really seems to be completely deserting her at exactly the wrong time

imtommygunn

Shit that's not good. Hull looks to come on tbf to her but still 24 seconds is a lot.

Coscoran through to the 1500 final which is great. Lavin just falls short again - you have to feel for her.

The mens and womens marathons were great. Fionnuala McCormack did great to finish top ten.

Healy in the final should be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised to see her top four or five or on the other end of it I wouldn't be surprised if she was last. Hard to know with her.

Louth and Longford the two remaining hopes...

Down and Longford even

imtommygunn

I always thought she was Louth. I stand corrected.

Possibly Armagh and Longford

Tony Baloney

Well done Kate O'Connor.

Great achievemnet; so many personal bests! And tough luck for McPhillips; 1:42.15 is some effort

Hodgkinson not winning a big blow for the brits. They'd have expected at least one gold.

Anyone with an interest in Irish Athletics would possibly already be aware of them but the Renton twins look to be very talented athletes and what they achieved at the weekend was pretty special. Finished 1st and 3rd in the U17 Celtic International Cross Country at Parliament Hill, with Freya who finished first also finishing a long way clear of the winner of the U20s. They are 15.

You can only hope they continue to develop at the rate that they are.

I see Bol is going for 800m.

Is it a thing where it's a waste of time with Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone going for the 400m on home turf?

Or is my hot take freezing cold...

them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

When SML likely to run the 400 flat, doing the 400 hurdles double would be a huge ask. She's also having a baby this year.

So if anything, the 400 hurdles might be as open as it'll ever be for Bol, although it's worth noting that she took bronze, not silver, in Paris, just like in Tokyo.

imtommygunn

Bronze was due to going for sml though and busting herself. No one would have beat her if sml wasn't in it.

Or...she didn't perform under pressure on the biggest stage of all. The time that won silver was nearly a full second slower than Bol's best.

She's picked up a couple of World Championships in SML's absence but will always have to play second fiddle as frankly, she, nor anyone else, is remotely close to being in the same league as SML. Maybe she thinks moving up and going after Hodgkinson would be more vindicating that picking up another medal that people will always (stupidly) say has an asterisk beside it.
