Without knowing all the facts re the argument, I'd agree. A one off when emotions are high should not result in a sacking. A written warning yes and a proviso that should it happen again......

Sacked on the spot,  no process,  automatic unfair dismissal irrespective of the reasons for it. The majority of employment cases are lost on process flaws so this was always going to lose

Ireland, UK, Spain are all ticking timebombs. I'm sure everywhere else too, given how neoliberalism has the world in a chokehold.

Surely even the most feckless and greediest of us all can recognise that it's not going be possible to have a public sector, retail sector or an entertainment sector when rents/mortgages make such career choices impossible.

How to fix the world, step 1: 100% capital gains tax on second (or more) dwellings. By all means, move up the ladder on your main property. But don't f**k up others for an essential human need on your way up.

How to fix the world, step 2: anyone in ownership of multiple dwellings is debarred from public office. For the simple reason that it's as good as impossible to devise solutions to housing problems for the greater good, when you may be so personally affected by changes, such as in step 1 above.
