What was the fallout with his parents?
His sister succeeded his ex-wife as a director of his cleaning company and last year it was discovered that the business was missing a lot of money which then led to its collapse and he went after his sister in the meeja  so  his parents must have been very upset. It is quite a sad story.

They also went and set up another company doing the same as DJ's.

It's like a storyline from Dallas, just with cleaning instead of oil.

Get well soon though DJ. Ya broke my heart a few times growing up but you were always as fair and honest as could be. A joy to watch.

Last Man

He called up to Portmarnock on Saturday to watch the U15 development squad blitz. He had plenty of time for a chat and photos with the young fellas, as he usually would tbh.

DJ Carey pleads guilty to 10 charges of deception

Former Kilkenny hurler DJ Carey has pleaded guilty to ten charges of defrauding a number of people out of money while pretending he had cancer.

Carey will be sentenced on 29 October.

The 54-year-old, who previously resided at The Drive, Newtown, Maynooth, Co Kildare, was due to stand trial today.

Appearing before Judge Patricia Ryan, Carey entered guilty pleas to ten counts of dishonestly inducing people to pay him money after he fraudulently claimed to have cancer and needed finances for treatment.

The court heard that one deception charge was being struck out while the remainder of the indictment would be taken into consideration by the sentencing judge.

Counsel for Carey requested that his client's legal aid be extended to allow for the preparation of medical reports and requested that a psychological report be submitted for the sentencing judge.

Judge Patricia Ryan granted the request.

Carey was remanded on bail until his sentencing hearing in October.

Premier Emperor

'The Dodger' has been sick a long time going by when this topic was started!

I see the papers have listed some of the people stung by Carey. No mention of Worzel Gummidge otherwise known as John Power.
He was supposed to be out of pocket by a 6 figure sum.

John Power, the farmer also of 80s hurling fame?

gallsman

John Power from John Lockes? More a 90s man, no?

Farmer if I recall correctly. DJ must have had his eye on him from a long way out.

Some of the first few pages in this thread are nuts. Wonder did that poster ever call round to the journalists writing about his "private life"...

Dunneroyal

The guy who owns the Celt too.
When you see the abuse the guy got for asking was it a stunt shows that some people can get away with almost anything. Dj is a sick man. Sick in the head. Anyone who has had cancer in their family , which is pretty much every family in Ireland are sickened by this utter sc**bag . I don't care if he was the greatest ever to whack a ball with a stick. I hope he gets a great welcome in prison.

He could always call around to Seánie Johnston's place for a cup of tea and a chat!!

Seriously though it's sad to hear DJ is having a rough time of it of late. He was a great ambassador for our games and he always comes across as a gentleman when interviewed.
Greatest hurler ever IMO.
I shifted his sister once as well.

Jaysus!

Sure that's nothing. Think it was stephenite who once rode Baby Spice. Considerably less of a spoofer than DJ.

laoislad

TBF to me we all have aged a good deal in the last 25 years  ;D
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

gallsman

But not Debbie Magee, eh?
