Armagh LGFA in league final later that day, to allow supporters to go to both games

The Mackin, McCambridge and McConville families will certainly be interested in both and entitled to tickets for the Belfast event.

At least, a bit of common sense.

Ulster Council has had a lot of bad PR this past few years between this and the Casement Park mess.

What's with the 3 points for a win used by the ladies?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Ladies%27_National_Football_League
"3 points are awarded for a win and 1 for a draw."

Three times the reward for winning a game as opposed to drawing.
Encourages teams that bit more to go for the win than settle for the draw.
Possibly something the GAA should look at.

In other news there seems to be rumours doing the rounds of the Ulster Final being moved to Croke Park.
Ulser Council looking to make up revenue "lost" because of the game in Corrigan apparently.
Heard it from 2 different people today.

Rossfan

An extra 20/25k in Croker would fill a few financial holes right enough.

Wonder will JP do the same for the Rhus v Galway Connacht Final?
Play the game and play it fairly

Just  bring in the diggers, sort out the pitch , build  a stand, and keep going until the money runs out. At least you'll have something to play on , and still bigger than Corrigan . Croke Park was a building  site for 10+ years , this can be too

The Brits aren't going to stump up , and  we're still going to be here in 10 years  with the begging bowl waiting. It won't happen

F**k them. Stop  wasting time and just start building

100% Austin.

Stop the blathering and begging while prices continue to rise and Bolx in the White House wrecks the World's Economy.

The stadium the gaa are hoping to build at Casement us not required. As others say. Build 1 big stand. Terraces behind the goal. And then another stand on other side if the funds are available.
I'd also spend some of the Irish govts funding on Clones. Badly needs upgrading.

First-come first-served for Armagh season ticket holders. it doesn't say how many are available; 500 would be quite different from 2000.

Saw this earlier in the week on the PuC state of play but forgot to post it.

The key thing for me was the admission that "Concerts are the only thing that will move the dial on debt here. Everything else really is to keep the lights on."

I don't think that statement gives much in the way of optimism as regards Casement's likely future profitability especially when you look at what the likely attendances are at both stadiums and how rare it would be to get a capacity crowd in either.

On the events front I think Casement would likely have very similar difficulties to Pairc Ui Chaoimh in terms of attracting concerts/events.

With Benn backing away at a rate of knots from giving any cash any time soon in that statement, I'm beginning to think the current Ulster Council plan is waiting for London to come up with some contribution that is miles from what is needed to finish the current version of the stadium and wait for planning permission to run out so they can use that as an excuse to go back to the drawing board. Grim times.

QuoteCork GAA chief executive Kevin O'Donovan says attracting concerts to SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh has been challenging because the venue is "too big for Live at the Marquee, too small for Coldplay" as the organisation looks to service its €31m stadium debt.

Mr O'Donovan was speaking at a Cork Chamber business breakfast on Tuesday at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. In an engaging presentation, Mr O'Donovan discussed a range of issues, including the stadium debt.

Cork GAA chief executive Kevin O'Donovan says attracting concerts to SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh has been challenging because the venue is "too big for live at the marquee, too small for Coldplay" as the organisation looks to service its €30m stadium debt.

"Concerts in this building are challenging because we're a mid size venue. We're too big for Live at the Marquee, we're too small for Coldplay. We talk to the promoters every day we are seeing now if we can move the dial a little bit and go into smaller events and use car parks and use 4G and put marquees up on the pitch and so on.

"So lest anyone think we are idle, you are at the discretion of the major acts' touring diaries; it's not your diary it's theirs, and we play games for a significant period of the year. Concerts are the only thing that will move the dial on debt here. Everything else really is to keep the lights on."

You still crying? Go down to the local club that weekend, just FYI they play 60 minutes not 70. The umpires won't be wearing white coats either.

Sportacus

Anyhows, back to Casement.  Hilary Benn indicating again there is going to be a shortfall.  Not new, but when you look at the deteriorating state of the UK economy, and potentially the Irish economy if Trump goes big on Tariffs, then what exactly is the strategy?

It's beyond time that the Ulster Council needs to bank whatever money is committed from the various sources, recut the plan, get it built, and hand it back to Antrim.

And feel free to take 20 mill off it and sink it into Clones for Ulster finals.

Antrim wants its ground back.  It's beyond farce at this stage.
