Quote from: Onthe40 on December 18, 2024, 10:11:46 AMFintona is a small town with a significant rural catchment outside of it, so its no shock they have decent youth and are now established at intermediate

Drumragh are pulling from Omagh town and again don't lack numbers at youth
I see they won a g3 title lately,,though if they are serious about competing at intermediate they probably need to go up a grade or 2 like Fintona have done at youth level
Drumragh minors finished joint 2nd in league 2 this year. Beat in play offs.
Bit of a false position. The Tyrone minor league was a shambles as majority of the County Under 17s didn't play for their clubs until the county season was over. Drumragh did not have any Under 17s so could play their full team the entire season.

Looking at the Corn na nÓg squad list for St Colman's today and I was struck by the limited numbers representing Armagh clubs. Seems much lower than what it once was.

The emergence of St Paul's Beesbrook as an alternative for A-levels has probably had an impact. Handier for most of the South Armagh children too not having go into Newry and moving the right way in sporting sense also if the parents are that way inclined.

St Ronans in Lurgan too have taken a big chunk of lads that would've went to St Colmans.

St Pats Cavan worthy winners in the Corn na nOg today. Very well set up team, physical and athletic. Most importantly could take their scores.

A closer score line than I expected but the end result is the same.  I'm sure Abbey are gutted.

McGeough (Forkhill/Abbey) and McSorley( Og's/ St Pats) are two exciting young players for each side.

St pats Armagh beat Abbey on penalties this evening.

bennydorano

Poor game, played in heavy fog in 2nd half. Abbey looked to be cruising 3 pts up mid way through the 2nd half, but fair play to St Pats who pulled it back and probably had more chances to win it from there (but Abbey had their share of chances and will be sick im sure). St Pat's goalie probably MOTM, saved a few goal chances in the first, scored the equaliser from a 45 at the death snd saved 2 pens, a good night's work!

Magherafelt (or Maghera) will make short work of Armagh unless there is a huge improvement imo.

What year did st pats move away from being a grammar school?

It's still a Voluntary Grammar (whatever that is). 2015 I think

St Colman's losing 4-0 at half time to the Donegal Abbey. Everybody involved over the past decade in turning MacRory football into negative dross should hang their heads in shame.

Is this not more appropriate?
