Neither was the one that put Armagh one up in injury time in Carrick last year either though.
That one was equally soft.
Having to play next week isn't even the main issue for Galway now - it's the fact that we have to play one of Dublin, Kerry or Donegal next up.
They will be sick because they basically threw it away

For sure...Galway had 2 men on there yesterday not fully fit either. Them fit and D Comer playing we'd have lost heavily.
I can swim a little but i can't fly an inch

Once again Armagh show a serious lack of consistency .. granted, Galway are a much slicker outfit than Derry, but to have so many Armagh players just not at it all at the same time, typical Armagh.  We have the potential to beat anyone on our day ... we've the potential to lose to anyone on a given day as well.  Not the traits you want to see in a team who are trying to progress to the business end of the championship.

on the other side, we didnt give up, kept plugging away, got the positive result we needed and are in the QF. Years gone by we would have folded and had a heavy loss

Quote from: illdecide on June 17, 2024, 12:09:52 PMTBH i thought Hurson was a decent Ref and I'm not blaming him on the result yesterday as Armagh were rotten but If he had to be asked what he seen to give that free too Galway in injury time I would like to hear his reason why. I know he's only human and can make mistakes like the players do but when i seen the replay last night it made it worse.

Thought KMcG could and should have made a few changes earlier, our bench is strong so why did he not empty it. I don't know.

Have to agree. Hurson is one of the better refs, and still is, but he got that one wrong and to could have been extremely costly

genuinely would fancy Galway against kerry or Donegal
dublin in croke is a different story
indeed there is merit in the dublin quarterfinal being played in Seple or limerick to get them to travel.

I think you are right there. Although we drew with them yesterday I thought they really should have won that match and they were the best side we played this year. They have more quality than Donegal and are very difficult to break down defensively and if they get Comer back fit they have the forwards that will do damage in Croke Park. I'm glad we can't play them in the quarter finals anyway as I reckon they could be the next best side left in the competition after the Dubs.

The positives for us is the emergence of Turbitt as a top class forward this season and the form of Rian over the last few games. Some of our more elder statesmen are beginning to show their age which is not totally unexpected but I think we have a good chance of getting to a semi final now. In hindsight it might be no bad thing that we topped the group yesterday playing poorly.

They're very well drilled defensively Galway. I still couldn't see them beating Kerry. Kerry are only warming up. The Dubs are likely the same too in reality.

Turbitt is a belter of a player. Also Armagh seem to finish games with a much stronger team on the pitch.

Armagh's post-match celebrations reminded me of the time Rangers won the Scottish League after the 3-3 draw with Celtic back in April.

Armagh's post match celebrations reminded me that avoiding the preliminary quarter-final game is very important. Getting through yesterday game was like getting through two games in one go and going into the Quarter final fresh. I'd be celebrating that. They have now a excellent chance of getting to a AI semi-final.

How dare lads show any happiness at qualifying for a quarter final in Croker after pulling out a result against a top team when they looked beat...

It's the GAA way. Any form of joy is frowned upon.  It's why we rarely see any trace of a smile from goalscorers.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Yes, moan and mock. If you can't enjoy the big results, there's little point in taking part.

There was always a streak of Puritanism in the GAA supporter. While the new generation of player has mostly risen above it, there was a time if you sported white boots, blonde highlights, or had a good pair of tanned legs, then you'd want to make sure you played fairly lively out on the pitch.
