We should be sending the u-17s or a select 11 from the Irish 2nd division out to play the Israeli's for both fixtures and the indefinite future.

Typical of the lack of imagination at the FAI that they couldn't think of fudge to barely pacify UEFA whilst still making it clear that the Irish men's team refuse to play Israel whilst the commit genocide and ethnic displacement. Their comments this week about "oh we couldn't do without the money" were particularly disgusting. They're a stain on the Irish nation but that's nothing new.

So the same logic the GAA used about Allianz?

Worst case, and possible, is UEFA ban all Irish teams from international competition for 2 years. That is no Irish teams playing any games. That is LoI clubs out of Europe. Mass redundancies, the development of the game hugely hit. While principles cost, the FAI have a duty of care to the gane too.

But it could be a lot less than that. And with the way the last week or two has went UEFA would be very aware that there's the potential for even more boycotts. That the sentiment around this genocide is a lot stronger than people would have thought. UEFA don't want to be in a position of having to ban Spain cause they've previously banned Ireland.

Do you think the FAI would be going through this over a fine? Of course UEFA have clearly laid out the consequences and the FAI have made their call based on that.

Spain haven't stepped up. Nobody has. This notion that UEFA will frop it because a ban will be unpopular is very naive.

You have no idea what they will do. And I have very little faith in the FAI doing the right thing, so yes I believe they have no idea of what UEFA would do and just want to avoid any risk. They're just too scared or indifference to make the right call on it.

We know what they CAN do...

Scared, definitely. Indifferent, get real.

Not prepared to take the risk then if your unhappy with indifferent. Or unprincipled. Take your pick. Making the wrong decision anyway. Alienating some of your support is never a smart move long term.

It's easy to hurl from the ditch, but the FAI have a duty of care to their game, first and foremost.

Last line says it all. You're just not happy a few "Gaels" are having a go at the FAI. It's possible to like both GAA and soccer. In fact I'd say the majority of gaa members would be at least passive soccer fans. It could just be a case that some people believe the FAI are totally in the wrong here.

Not quite my point.

Most people opining here that the FAI should man up and take the punishment won't be in any way impacted by the punishment. You don't care about the U15's having no competitive football and how that impacts on development. You aren't going to miss out on Pats in Europe as you won't watch it, let alone go.

A large chunk of it is popping at the FAI on muscle memory and ignoring that it is UEFA creating and exacerbating the issue.

As JC and NAS says, a lot of pushing and shoving! Noone was hurt on the pitch. The big issue is off the field. They joys of live streaming games eh!

Onto the weekend now for the next round of games and this will rightly be forgotten about.

Who have we got, any surprises or upset on the cards?

NE too much for Oisins
Ógs to get past the town
Creggan should beat NP (potential for a talking point)
Glenarm maybe 1/2 points to the better of NG
Paddies (intermediate team) too much for forts unless Desmond capitalises on the frees
LD to take it to a city final?
Ardoyne and B'mena to toss for the rigs in the final

If the parade is forced down, then there should be no complaints about dual language signage.

But I hope the plaids commission do the right thing.

Win or lose,  there's not a hope  they'll stop at this. In their eyes , their "culture"  is being eroded and those taigs are taking over.

Any sort of victory, no matter how small , is a feather in  the cap of unionism.

It the plaids commission ban the march then it's back to the courts for more legally stuff.

A Unionist group has been set up recently with Ben Hibib funding the whole thing. Members are current leaders and some old ones.

Trillick period of dominance has to be commended as this team comes to the end of the line.

Since 2015 - 6x County Finals (5 of the last 7),  3x O'Neill Cups

Beat on penalties and by 1pt twice

That is some championship record when you list it like that.

On top of that in those 10 years, probably finished top 4 in league 7/8 times and won several leagues also

A top drawer outfit to be fair

3 league titles in that period, all coming in the last 5 seasons. Savage return.

Must say the new D1 league format is a lot better. Imagine Killyclogher still going since the 6th September championship elimination waiting to play Carrickmore.

As for D2, the promotion playoffs must return, too many dead rubbers since NE ran away with the league early on. Moy conceded their last league game against Cookstown and still finished in a playoff spot assuming one of either NE/Pomeroy/Cookstown win the Championship. Even if it is a 2 team playoff, its still something worth pushing for.

The 3B playoffs have been delayed this year with Castlederg and Tattyreagh going far in Junior. Urney are still waiting since the 15th August. Probably best to only have 2 teams in that playoff.
