Just saw this on the BBC championship page.

The queens coronation 1953 Armagh reached the all Ireland final
1977 her silver jubilee Armagh reached the all Ireland final...
2002 her golden jubilee Armagh reach and win their first ever final...
Will there continue to be a link in 2012?

The Garvaghy Road Orange men would love this clear link between the fortunes of the royalty and Armagh.

Maybe we should ask her to come back to Croker for the final and maybe throw the ball in.

Is this the first team to buck the trend of lower division beating a team in a higher one?

Nothing at all against Galway, but as a 'neutral' was happy to see Sligo stick it up to them and take the win.

This was a game to restore faith in the  championship.

I'd prefer Casement as a neutral venue. Monaghan have done well there the last few times and a lot of the current squad would have had plenty of games there.

I know from talking to Down supporters, they are very confident of making the Ulster Final. While not dismissive of the Monaghan challenge they understandably point to the big recent wins against us in the League and McKenna cup. The form guide points to a Down win.

Hopefully we'll come out firing on all cylinders and buck the trend.

Poor game ruined by the unfair sending off, not to mention clear pick up for the 2nd goal. Down are the better team and any hopes of Fermanagh doing a job on them were gone without a powerful target man up front and down to 14 men.

Down should be good enough to progress to progress to the final, but not if Monaghan get the breaks from the 'officials' that were given today.

If Dick Clerkin would quit trying to write men off and start playing football, the midfield would be better off. I thought he said in that book recently he had grown up after his previous antics in Celtic Park. Not on last nights performance.

What book would that be?

I thought McQuillan marshalled the game well, but probably Doyle's yellow card was harsh.
I thought Doyle was lucky enough to get a yellow.

As for the 'melee', McQuillan stood back to take notes, rather than take control of the situation. I'm in two minds as to whether than was the appropriate thing to do.

Was at the game and didn't see what started the row. Looking at it on TG4 later Doyle struck Moen after the free was awarded and Moen retaliated. What I did see at the game was the Kildare No. 8 starting it again, coming off the pitch, after it appeared to have calmed down, whacking a few Monaghan players from behind. He wasn't penalised.

I would have been critical of him at the start of the year. The comments he made about Tyrone players similar to the sycophantic way Morrisey talks about Kerry's.

But I warmed to him as the Championship progressed. His report on the hype in Donegal in the run up to today's semi final was of a very high standard. Pity the match that followed was so poor.

Looking likely that Mugsy will get away with with his slap.

Doesn't seem to have been caught on camera.

It's a strange one as himself and Walshe had a warm embrace on the final whistle. I suppose what happens on the pitch stays there. From where I was Mone can have no compliants, plus he did it right in front of the officials.

Monaghan have taken the dark arts to a new level. I know it might be a bit hypocritical when we have Ricey acting the buck but about half the Monaghan men were continually slabbering/digging especially their No 2 on SoN. Although funny watching O'Neill looking quite perplexed by all his attention.

What are you banging on about? O'Neill was easily giving as good as he was getting. BBC NI sticking up for their wee 6 mates with their camera angles and Silly Sidebottom commentary doesn't take away from it. I was metres away from the pair of them. He was also the first line of draggers in the Tyrone Rugby League slow down the offence and got away with it. O'Neill up against a rookie playing the victim of foul play rings a bit hollow.

Hard luck to Monaghan. Mad to think that if Galway scored another point against Dublin, it would be Armagh and not Monaghan relegated along with Galway

Monaghan blew it that day in Armagh. It was a game we should have won with 5 points to spare. Monaghan were far from the finished article in Division 1, but we were better than Armagh and Galway.

It's by no means a disaster to go down to Division 2 and many good players have come through. There's very little in terms of quality between 1 and 2. Divsion 3 - that would be a serious setback. But attention now shifts to Round 1 in Omagh.

Not that surprisingly I enjoyed the League far more last season to the Championship, so I'll be renewing. To be playing in top flight this year is an added incentive.

Good value for money, rewards loyal supporters, it has been one of the better initiatives by the GAA in recent times.
