Breaking news: change at centre half back for the Kingdom.

Eoin Brosnan is out

Yeah, right! The usual mind games.

GPA selection announced. JJ Delaney omitted, which is pretty outrageous.

Instead his place went to Padraic Maher - basically favouring someone who had 1 decent game over someone who had a flawless season.

Is this still picked by the players? Maybe its time to change that if they make bullshit choices like this.

The GPA team is exactly the team that Croi na hEirean predicted. Well done again,Croi!

Some great predicting you did there back in September, Croi. I reckon that you got 14/15 predictions right including both players and positionsl  Congrats!

JJ the only one you missed out on.

Good going alright to get that many and them in the right positions too.

Thanks lads but it was an easy enough year to predict the hurling All-Stars and the b**tards went with JJ instead of Pauraic Maher. What with Lar moved out to the 40 the forwards picked themselves and the only other position up for grabs was in goals. Surprised Noel McGrath didn't get the YPOTY though.

Is there any chance you could tell me the Lotto numbers for Wednesday night's draw, Croi?

1, 9, 40, 32, 23, 16 in that order too

1/6, I make it. Eh, perhaps it would be best if you stuck to sports forecasting for the moment.

E Cadogan and O Leary great price to be shown yellow card

Oh Really, Yeah! What a horrible bet to offer on the back of two very sporting players. I'm glad that nobody won money on that awful bet.

If ever I needed a reminder of why I dislike Cork its you

You don't know me so  please don't judge me. As for the bet, would you bet on players being penalised? It's the first time that  I've ever heard of it. I hope that it doesn't become common practice.

I don't need to know you. I only have to read the drivel you post. Perhaps you should direct your ire about the people offering the bets if you feel that badly about it.

Sorry, I thought that this was a discussion forum -  I must be in the wrong place then.

If Cork win on Sunday i believe it will be a travesty for football.

Really? Where's the travesty?  If Cork wins, what exactly .....?  Yeah, nothing  Cork just win - that's all.  What was your point in starting such a ridiculous thread in the first place?
Cork has been one of the best football  teams in the countriy over the past number of years -  they play a particular brand of football which suits them. They are amateur players and their objective is to win, that's all, not to entertain people like you. If you want entertainment then go to the cinema or somewhere - there are many people in the entertainment industry who are being paid to entertain people like you. The Cork footballers owe you nothing.
       Up The Rebels!

Good luck to The Rebels today, both seniors and minors!

Cork footballers have been criticised a lot here and elsewhere for the type of football that they have played this year with many commentators saying that they played much better football last year. Well, I saw Paul Kerrigan on TV  yesterday address that very point. He said that last year the Cork players  tended to play every ball ''as if it was their last' -  this led to an expansive brand of football that was entertaining to watch. In contrast, he said that this year they were playing a more cautious game with an emphasis on 'using our heads more' and retaining possession.
The Cork game-plan is all about retaining posession at all costs and keeping the ball away from the opposition as much as possible. This type of game plan was introduced by Billy Morgan back in the eighties and has been continued by Conor Counihan with this present team since Conor played in Billy's teams for many years.
The 'possession game' is not pretty to watch but it has served Cork well in the past as Cork usually manages to score more than the opposing team does. Therefore I expect Cork to continue playing in this way on Sunday. Many people are hoping for a huge expansive display from Cork in the final. I for one don't expect to see this  as instead I expect Cork to continue to do what it does best.
So, on Sunday when you see the Cork players hand- passing the ball around the middle of the field don't think that they have lost their way. Just  remember that their slow, laborious style of play is all part of their game-plan and is geared towards winning rather than entertaining.

AZ, what do you reckon about the Canty factor? Would you reckon that it's risky putting a not-100% Canty on Marty Clarke?

Canty won't be near Clarke on Sunday. Expect Cadogan or Shields to shadow Clarke (maybe Miskella for a while if he comes on.) I can't see Canty play at centre -back at all - I don't think that he has the legs for that position presently. If Canty  plays, it may be at full-back to release Shields to centre- back or else to folllow Clarke. It's more likely that Cadogan will start on Clarke, though.
