Congrats to Mayo, the Mayo posters here, and those we sadly lost like Lars and Farrandeelin. Mayo supporters always said they'd eventually win when it was least expected and so it came to be. They play a refreshing brand of football based on high press (way too risky for most conservative managers) and an abundance of pace and youthful energy. These lads are football immortals now like the men of 1950/51. May they enjoy a year on the beer. Hard luck to Kerry. Number 40 waits but no doubt will arrive soon enough.

Surprised Kerry didn't seem to learn more about Mayo from the Louth game.  From what I saw Kerry were gracious losers.

Congrats Mayo! Saw some of the Mayo (maternal) side of my family today after game and they were all buzzing! I've had plenty of Mayo-inflicted sickeners in recent years as a Donegal man, but could take nothing but pleasure from the way they tore into Kerry and wrested that match from them after an iffy, familiar start.

Enjoy it lads! Thoroughly deserved!

Absolutely delighted for the people of Mayo. Theyve had years of heartache and today makes it all worthwhile. Celebrate it well folks amd bask in the glory. There was no luck needed today. The best team won and Mayo are kings of Ireland.
Ive never seen such celebration in croke Park, everyone stayed to soak it in. Mayo for sam is a dream no more.

Absolutely delighted for Mayo, and the manner of the win makes it even more special. The pure raw emotion was a sight to behold at the end.

Could have won by more, but that doesn't matter.

Its one of the greatest underdog stories ive ever seen.

O'Donoghue was playing in the half forward line for the majority of the match. Tracking back and doing the dirty work is part of the gig when you play there. You're comparing apples and oranges.
