Don't know anything about them trying to get Cloughmills players tbh but even if the girls wanted to move, I was at a meeting recently and they were talking about a change in the rules for transfers within the LGFA and it seems it's near impossible to get them nowadays.

No idea but they were coming over stuff about birth certificates etc. The person didn't seem to think it was a great idea themselves and spoke of instances of fall outs and people being bullied but unless they could produce birth certs showing a connection to another club and stuff they were to be rejected and then if you wanted to appeal it was like £300 with no guarantee of success. I was half listening as I thought it might be something I might have to do for my daughter as at that time we had about 12 players and doubted we'd be able to field.

Is there sustainability in Oisins in the ladies game? Or is it always going to be a struggle due to location?

There's no denying it has it's difficulties and camogie is a lot more popular in our area. My panel (U14) has 19 players atm and 13 of those also play camogie. My own daughter played too but had to quit as Carnlough trained on the nights football matches were on and she picked the big ball. The big benefit of having camogie players is there's already athletic ability there so it's just getting the skills and ways of playing gaelic into them. My girls this year are quite inexperienced in that there's 9-10 haven't played gaelic on a full size pitch yet between brand new players and girls coming up from u12.

Across the other teams, the wee u12 group seem to have a pile of players so hopefully they stick at it. Above me, the U16 are a strong squad and will play Div 1 this year for the first time. On their day, they're a great wee side but numbers are tight so a couple missing and it gets a lot harder. The senior team have girls stretching from Ballygally to Ballycastle as there's no other clubs on that stretch. A good lot of them are camogie players too so even things like organising trainings on a night that suits is hard.

A massive problem we face is teams not playing us. We had 3 or 4 matches called off last season as teams couldn't make it to Glenariffe on a Thursday night. I'd be sympathetic but they have to make it to Glenariffe once every 2 years while every other week we're in Belfast and beyond. I'm not really buying into that as anything other than they can't be arsed.

Is the plus side not that it will end up being more than just Oisins as there are no other teams for a good few miles about so there'll be more of a player pool?

Glenravel & Cloghmills only a few miles up the road

Would they not fall into Moneyglass's parish 😉
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Cushendall and Carnlough though close enough. Even Cushendun.

Glenravel is close inland but you could go along the coast from Larne to Ballycastle and there's no other gaelic football. It's a big catchment area but there's also not a huge interest in football in the area.

I think of my panel I have 9 Glenariffe, 6 Cushendall, 2 Cushendun, 1 Carnlough and 1 Ballycastle. That's 19 girls in that area playing football at u14. Camogie will have Carnlough, Cushendall, Ballycastle and some Naomh Padraig all probably have that number at least.

Numbers are small but for as long as there's enough to field, we'll keep trying our best.

is that a 25 to 30 mile catchment area? Great niche to find.   Only St Galls and St Brigids can compete with that ;)

St Brigids are like Footballers without Borders.

BigGreenField

Down taking a lead from Antrim with a Year 8 schools tournament, the Eamonn Burns Cup so perhaps the view that it's been helpful to Antrim.
